How to force a burglary?

I was looking on mailbox cheats, but I can't find anything.  I recall that "Make NPC..." summoned existing NPC on the lot (at least it worked with Uni mascots and cheerleaders), but I'm not sure when it morphed into this:


Is there any way to trigger a burglar coming to the house, or do I have to wait until sadorandom generator gives me one?

If it was that easy, I wouldn't write this post. I tried different times, different lots, and I don't have this option on a mailbox. Any ideas?

I'm concerned with why you are getting these "$Private String:0" options. I've never seen this before. Do you have any non-MATY hacks installed? Specifically ones that might borkify the mailbox?

I get those options too.  I don't have anything unawesome enough to mess with that.

Non-awesome hacks? Lots of them, of course!  But I just wiped whole Download folder to test and those  "Private Strings" show up in vanilla game as well.

Maybe this problem is related to the fact, that I finally bought OFB and installed it on top of Pets and Seasons? I knew it was probably a VBT, but I wanted to play it as quick as possible and decided I'd reinstall everything later. Yes, you guessed, "later" did not come yet.

Do you by any chance play in UK english mode?

Yes. I'd had some troubles with reverse translation from Polish when writing here, so I decided to switch my game into English - it looks much better now.  And yes, its British English version.

Me too; I suspect that's the culprit then.  It might be worth trying it in US English.
Maybe Jordi will look at it.

What, the mailbox text appears normal in US English? Then it should be rather easy to fix. I'll take a look, maybe I can find it.

Silly Maxis. UK English has some arbitrarily changed strings... so it looks like the wrong menu is called.

Nauthiz, try the attached package. Does nothing except remove the text for other locales, so it forces US English to be used. And hopefully call the right menu.

Nope, isn't it. I don't see what menu exactly is called unfortunately, but I'll take another look later this weekend.

I've used Simsky's Burglar picture in the past.. but not as of installing Seasons.. it appears he has updated some of his hax so this one either still works.. or not.
