Testers Wanted: Ugly Maxis Wall Hiders

I've put together a set of mods, one file for each EP and the base game, to hide the fugliest of the fugly Maxis walls.  Anybody want to try them out for me?

To use, just place in your Downloads folder.  According to SaraMK (who provided the info that made this mod possible--thanks Sara!) and the limited testing I've done in my own game, the walls that are hidden will still be visible on any existing houses that use them, but will not be in the Build Mode wall catalog or selectable with the eyedropper.  Please let me know if you experience any trouble loading lots after installing these files.

These do not hide all the Maxis walls, just those I personally find odious, so consider them a proof of concept, and feel free to pick them apart and alter them in any way you like.  All you have to do to unhide a particular wall is fire up the game without the hider files in your Downloads, go to the wall you want in the catalog and get its name, then go through the files in SimPE, find the line with that name and delete it.

What's hidden:  223 Maxis walls by my count, from the base game and all five EP's (not the Stuff Packs, unfortunately.)  Anything that struck me as excessively gaudy, tacky, tasteless, useless, busy, poorly tiled, unattractively colored, most sports- and space-themed stuff and animal prints, and any I just plain didn't like for whatever reason.  YMMV.

What's not:  The other 630-ish walls that I found sufficiently neutral, classic, elegant, tasteful, useful (just about all the construction-themed stuff is still there,) or generally inoffensive, as well as a few that I arbitrarily decided to leave even when I hid some of their matching walls because I happened to like them.

Oh, much obliged for this one!  I can not communicate clearly enough my frustration with touring those pages endlessly with no way to pare the walls down as I had my own downloads.  I can't wait to see if we agree, and thank you so much for passing on the clear info in case we don't.

It is lovely, absolutely lovely, to have my wallpapers load so damn easily. However, you & my Victorian sims have disagreed on the use of several wallpapers.

That said, this does work like a dream.

Heh, that doesn't surprise me.  Some of the Victorian stuff struck me as too brightly colored or too busy, though I like simpler Victorian fare.  Hope you don't have too much trouble getting them back, and I'm glad you like it otherwise.
