Authorized Personnel Only Security System v5.0
«
on:

Updated for Seasons. Electric Death option now deprecated and removed due to inadvisability of mass killing sims in an active neighborhood and conflicts with unrelated Seasons-related subjects.

FWS "Authorized Personnel Only" v5.0 for TS2p0 - TS2Seasons
Made by: Flying Fish Systems (J. M. Pescado & Doctor Boris)
Special Thanks To:
Quaxi, for writing SimPE
Congratulations to: Draklixa!
In Memoriam: Dizzy
INSTRUCTIONS:
Place in your MYDOCU~1\EAGAME~1\THESIM~1\DOWNLO~1 directory. Buy it from Misc
Electronics and plant it upon a wall.
This object can be bought and placed in any room, inside or outside, upon a
wall. Once in the game, you can set its security preferences by programming the
allow, deny, and override settings for various classes of people.
I. DENY/PERMIT/LOCKDOWN SETTINGS
1. VISITORS
All visiting, non-NPC, non-resident sims are denied. If on a community,
this affects all of the naturally occurring wandering visitors, but not
the Sims you control (or invited - seperate Maxis bug).
2. HOSTILES
This category includes all malicious NPCs: A social worker coming to steal
your children, and the burglar are all hostiles. Note that a
burglar is reclassified to EMERGENCY if he has been arrested, and to
SERVICES if he is coming to purchase the virus (although we do not know
how this can happen normally). All NPCs which are invited by phone are
considered visitors for the duration of that visit. Some Social Workers
can walk through walls and are not affected as a result.
3. DISRUPTIVE
This category consists of hired workers that perform disruptive
activities if allowed to wander too freely around the base. This
category currently includes only the Nanny and Evil Mascot.
4. TOURISTS
This category consists of NPCs who are touring the base and can become
stuck on certain types of objects if allowed to wander into them. Members
of this class include the Headmaster and the Boss(disabled scenario), as
well as all the non-service-related University NPCs like the Cheerleader,
Professors, and Mascot(Llama).
5. SERVICE
This category consists of NPCs that are hired to perform services on the
base. Members of this class include the Gardener, Repairman, Maid,
Pizza, Newspaper, and Grocery Deliverypersons, Bartender, Postal Worker,
Social Worker (when delivering an adopted child), Burglar(when purchasing
the virus), the Cashier, and the Chinese Deliverator.
6. EMERGENCY
This category consists of emergency personnel: Firefighters, Police
Officers, the Burglar(when arrested), and the Exterminator.
7. MISCELLANEOUS
This category consists of NPCs not otherwise recognized presently.
No members are currently classified as such as of this edition. Any
custom NPCs created in other hacks, or NPCs added in expansion packs
not supported, may be classified in this category.
8. AUTONOMOUS
This category consists of resident controllable sims that are not
performing a user-priority interaction or greater. Also includes, or
perhaps *specifically* includes, Sims trying to puke.
9. BABIES
This category includes all babies and toddlers. While babies are not
normally mobile, should a baby somehow acquire the ability to move while
still being classified as a baby, it will be prevented from entering.
Toddlers will be unable to pass through this setting.
A. CHILDREN
This category includes all Sims of the "Child" age stage.
B. TEENS.
This category includes all Sims of the "Teen" age stage.
C. ADULTS:
This category includes all Sims of the Adult and Elder age stages.
D. PASS-THROUGH: (unreliable)
This category includes everyone, regardless of anything else, who is
routing to a destination that is not within the room itself. It is not
applicable in Lockdown Mode. Anyone who is attempting to navigate to a
point or object not within the room itself will be denied access to
enter this room. Set this on your bathroom if your sims insist on trying
to route through the bathroom, then being unable to pass through because
somebody's legs are in the way: The room will then be rendered invalid
for pass-through routing and sims will always go around unless they are
attempting to go into the room itself.
E. EVERYONE:
Everyone not classified as UNTOUCHABLE is a member of this category. If
this setting is set, nobody may pass through this door when the lock is
engaged, and everyone will be denied access.
F. EMPLOYEES:
OFB Owned Business Employees. Anyone employed at the current business,
including the owner if the lot is being visited by a third party.
10. ANIMALS:
Pets and other sim-animals. Does not include object-based animals.
11. UNTOUCHABLE:
This category includes the Social Bunny, Therapist, Ghosts, the Repo Man,
and the Grim Reaper. This category is always able to pass through due to
their non-corporeal, imaginary, or unstoppable/game-critical nature.
In all cases, the most restrictive setting applies: A Maid is classified as
"SERVICE", "ADULTS", and "EVERYONE", for instance. DENY disallows that class
of people from passing through locked doors. PERMIT removes a previously set
DENY. LOCKDOWN sets DENY on the entire base, even in rooms without a panel.
A HOSTILE deny lockdown is automatically triggered, as well as the intruder
alert, if a hostile burglar is detected.
II. LOCK/UNLOCK ROOM/ALL
This command engages or disengages the door locking for the room, or all
configured rooms. Unless the room is locked, people who are set for DENY
will still be able to pass through the doors.
III. ADD/CLEAR OVERRIDE
This command adds a specific Sim present on the lot to the OVERRIDE list,
or removes a previously set OVERRIDE. Sims set for OVERRIDE may pass
through all doors locked by this system on the lot regardless of permission
settings.
IV. SOUND ALARM
Activates or deactivates the alarm. All sims present in a room with a panel
will be awakened by the alarm. Lockdown will not auto-change when the alarm
has been sounded. A HOSTILE deny lockdown is automatically triggered, as
well as the intruder alert, if a hostile burglar is detected.
COMPATIBILITY:
Compatible with all FFS hacks. Should function with all versions of TS2, but
only tested on TS2OFBp1 - TS2Seasons.
WARNING:
Do not open, crush, dispose of in fire, put in backwards, short-circuit, or mix
with non-awesome hacks - may explode, leak, or catch fire, resulting in injury
and/or death.
NOTE:
As of v5.0, due to the issues involving other hacks and the general
inadvisability of using it, the Electric Death option has been removed. There
are plenty of ways to kill your sims now without this.

The Garden Clubber would probably be a Visitor, unless he shows up as an NPC.

Mightily confused. There's a bedroom with two single beds, a sleep clock, and an APO. I put the APO in to prevent the damn cats from sleeping on the beds and forcing a sprog to pass out on the floor or kip on a couch.
The APO was set to Deny->Everyone, Override->2 Teen Sims (that use that as their bedroom), and Locked.
My question is, since I'm just not getting it... should the APO be making the room invisible for anyone not permitted? Like, adult father-type sim won't ever want to autonomously make the beds in there since he isn't allowed? (Which, of course, he's been doing, but can't make it through the door.)
Or is this simply denying them when they get to the door? Adding Deny->Autonomous didn't make a difference, so I'm assuming at the moment that it's just a plain yet fancy lock, and not something like the Myne doors where they vanished the room contents to prevent envy?

try shift-clicking and pushing "Set Route Blocking". That's the experimental option to attempt to make the room invisible to people not allowed.

First of all, you need to have your sims *train* the cats to stay off furniture. There are hacks that can do that for you if you aren't patient enough to do it the normal way.
Second, APO controls doorways, so you'll need a honest-to-goodness door to the room (or doors if you allow a sim to pass through it).

I've done that, and haven't noticed any further like behavior... so far. I'll keep watching it, or maybe set up something ridiculous like a cube room with a door, an APO, and a bubble blower or other high attraction item.

Uh huh, and they are being trained. In the meantime, they can stay the frell off the beds since sleepclock doesn't auto-shoo on a call to bed. Any time they're caught up on counters, the sofa, etc., they get scolded.
The point was
not
about cats being on the bed (though that is why I slapped an APO in that room). It's about the contents of the room not being invisible to denied sim-beings. Hopefully, the above debug thing will "make it so."

They are doorways, not arches, and not some other bizarre variant that isn't a door.

But cats are supposed to get on counters and sofas. Plus "using a sim bed" is a seperate behavior from "getting on furniture". And that's an excellent idea. I'm glad I thought of it.

Im having a problem with this conflicting with no unneeded coats by Dr Bortis. The APO wasn't showing up in my game to buy so I ran the hack scanner from Sims wardrobe and I got.

At the risk of necromancy, I have a question...
Is the option to Set Route Blocks supposed to stop macrotastics from attempting to send sims into a room they're denied access to? if not, any chance of making it so?
I'm trying to build an "apartment building" for playing various single-n-poor sims who would otherwise waste space in a house all their own, but I would reallyreally like it if they'd stay out of their neighbors' apartments! This successfully stops them from trying to autonomously watch their neighbor's tv... it *seems* to stop them from putting their freshly-delivered groceries into the neighbor's fridge, but they'll stop at the door and complain first. But if macrotastics decides that, for example, the neighbor's easel is the best place to skillinate, or the neighbor's toilet needs to be peed in? The sim will freeze at the door, while the macro icon flashes in queue at ridiculous speeds.
I suppose I can confine the skillinating items to their apartments only, rather than the common rooms, so that skillinator won't send them to the wrong apartment to pee. Or maybe put a bathroom in the common area. (Which I suppose I should do anyway.) But I just wanted to make sure this wasn't already fixable through this hack and I'm just too sucky to find it.

Route block checking would be extremely computationally expensive and lag the hell out of the system. "Apartments" are simply not a supported configuration in the game.

Use "Myne" Doors. Get lesswhiny. Problem solved.
I ran apartments all the time before the whining-reducer and it's not that bad...some with common areas and some without. You just keep the doors locked, which any self-respecting person does in an apartment building.

With locking doors, you obviously only lock the bedrooms. This still presents the player with the difficulty of losing ACR functionality. You could make a common room for that as well, but now we're really not talking about apartments anymore.

I don't use the skillinator. I know, I'm behind the times, but it doesn't bother me. As for only using the doors on the bedrooms....nah. I used them on the front door to the whole "apartment". You're right though, dizzy, it could cause problems with the ACR if a harem room isn't included or if the door isn't unlocked. I wasn't playing with ACR the last time I had a building going.
I run dorms the same way....itty bitty 1x2 rooms for the dormies so that I can have plenty to amuse me with a couple public baths, but large suites for my playables. My new dorm I've just set up has a huge harem suite on the first floor, since I figure the kids of my current going-at-it-like-bunnies couple will need to do the same. Plus I'm using that required degree hack so I actually, like,
use
Uni.

Is there any particular reason that the APO doesn't have the option to block elders specifically? Adults will block elders as well, but I was kind of surprised that elders are grouped in w/ adults.

Mostly because at the time APO was made, we only had 16 bits available, so we ran out when we got to elders, and so they got lumped together as they're normally considered legally indistinguishable.

I'm guessing, as one of the lowly, that what he means by that is the game has changed since then, not APO.

No, we still only have 16 bits normally, but a workaround was made around the time of ZOMGPETZ!!!111oneoneone to open up more bits. However, the elder thing was never really looked into at the time.

Not at this time. Turns out we are still limited to 16-bit after all, and all the bits are occupied. The feature will be taken into consideration at the next major retooling, though.

Phooey. If it can't be upgraded to allow more options, then I guess there won't be any options to deny loitering? I need a way to keep pets from napping in stairwells and hallways.
