Since installing pets, none of my sims' LTR scores have been going up over time. They only rise with interactions, which makes it practically impossible to get none-romantic best friends. Can anyone suggest what might be causing this?

Do you have any relationship-decay hacks, especially older ones that have not been updated for Pets? If so, this may be the source of your problems.

For the short time when I was playing with just the base game, I know that Online Chat raised the participating Sims relationship. One good all night chat, and you had a new friend (since you can't call people at night, even if they're hanging out in a chat room).
This doesn't happen anymore. Chatting just adds them to the Known Sims with a 0 relationship. I think it quit happening with one of the expansion packs, but I don't remember which one, and before I installed any hacks.
Do other people remember it this way?

I don't think I've ever seen chat online raise relationship socres ever. But it's been quite a while since I played base game only.

I think it depends whether sims have any interests in common. If they don't, they don't get a RL, they won't even meet, if they have some in common they'll get the 0 one, and if they have al lot in common they'll get a higher RL, and a longer chat session.

I've never knowingly installed a relationship decay hack, and I haven't downloaded any houses recently. I've checked for the more obvious stuff, so I'm assuming it's a random side effect of some other hack. Chatting online does raise STR scores, but only by a tiny amount - hours of chatting will put it up one or two. Monique's computer makes it worth doing.

I only let my Sims chat online when they need the Social boost. Otherwise it seems to be a waste of good skilling time.

I let my sims chat online when they have the 'meet someone new' want.

Me too! It's also especially useful for sims who have fully red social bars in the middle of the night and can't call anyone to chat... especially teenagers! It doesn't seem to matter what time it is, there's usually someone there!

I actually find that there is more sims online in the middle of the night then any other time, I dunno if this is a delibirate feature or just my game but it sure is useful.

I think you're right! There's usually 4 Sims on at night and only 1 the rest of the time.

Isn't that kinda like RL chat?
