Weivtnasaelp: a reversed Pleasantview

Weirder than Strangetown, all the Pleasantview inhabitants changed sex: Don Lothario is a gorgeous sexy girl, now, Brandi Broke an handsome guy, and so on.



Fixed and improved version.

Full Pleasantview neighborhood (N001). I stripped away only the .reia file (the flyby movie), to shrink better the archive. This hood is the original unloaded one you may find in the game folder (TSData/Res/UserData/Neighborhoods/), only edited in SimPE. It's ok even for base game only, no EP. Plus, in this way all the townies are yet unemployed, and they will pick random job and skills only when loaded by the game the first time.
I didn't renumber the neighborhood because of possible issues with cloned hoods, according to Pes' warning.


Converted characters: all the playables, all the townies, all NPCs except:
- Unique (Grim Reaper, Therapist, Hula Zombie, Pollination Tech, NPC car)
- Social Bunnies (that would be pointless)
- Nannies, Headmasters and Repo Men are converted as well. New NPCs of these types will spawn in the usual gender anyway.

All characters wear Maxis base game clothes, makeup and hair, now.
Not changed: names, for recognizability (you may rename them easily with boolprop cheat, or many hacks, according to your taste).
Added updated portrait thumbnails.


Fixed:
- Gender preferences, made consistent.
- Dummy characters removed, memories fixed for story consistency, actual dead characters relinked.
- Dangling SWAFs and Relationships cleaned up.


Known unsolved issues:
- Female romance sims walk sexy like romance males do.
- Thumbnails have often a black background (fixable with thumbnail refresh).

As the hard work was done yet, somebody may find useful to have original and reversed saved sims, for various reasons, so I put them online too:
- Original whole population (20 Mb)
- Original NPC only (8 Mb)
- Original playables only (4.5 Mb)
- Original townies only (7 Mb)
- Reversed whole population (21 Mb)
- Reversed NPC only (8.7 Mb)
- Reversed playables only (5 Mb)
- Reversed townies only (7.7 Mb)
- All the sims in updated version (11 Mb)



Package files are named after the character, so it's easy to pick right ones.

The main rar does not work for me. Downloaded thrice using two browsers, and it comes up corrupt each time. 34.7 MiB (36,384,764 bytes) downloaded.

Those combinations appears to be broken if you feed them into the game. Headmasters, Social Workers, Repomen, and nannies all appear to be gender-locked.

I was not sure about, for the reasons yet expressed by Pescado, but if you say it worked, I might give it a try. Or leave the gender unchanged and operate the surgery... creepy but funny-

Maybe you should use 7-zip. It's free and supports all the modern platforms.

Certain NPCs are gender locked when you *create* them. After that, they're fair game AFAIK. Just don't mess with the unique ones like Grimmy or Crumplebottom, etc.

Darn, really. I'm not a windows user, so maybe I make some mistake somewhere in winrar. I'm trying 7-zip now, thanks for the input.

P.S. You may find in zip archive some weird files, like .DS_Store, or ._MAC_OS_X_something: don't worry, they're useless an may be safely deleted or else. They're some invisible files Mac system use to cache and display folder contents; I'm trying to tune my system to zip without including these stupid files, but sometimes still happens.

ETA: substituted rar with 7-zip. Wow, it shrinks like a charm.

I'm having great fun playing with this, but thought you might like to know that all the gender preferences are 'wrong'. ie Don Lothario still likes women (although he keeps his/her Dina/Nina/Cassandra/Kaylynn loves (s)he has no desire to do anything with these Sims (although (s)he does think Darren Dreamer is pretty sexy). The same with all the other Sims.

I went into SimPE and reversed the attraction meters to reflect the Sims' new genders.  Not sure if that did anything, but Cassius Goth and Donna Lothario got hitched!   

Though Donna appears to be a bisexual in that she loves guys and dolls.  Oh boy...

In my original Pleasantview, Don is a total slut who likes the boys as well as the girls.

Good point; I've noticed that usually married couples have gender preferences setted (and in this case inverted, true, I didn't thought of it) but the others don't, even if they have some crush or else here and there. But I may be wrong: I didn't pay too much attention, because I usually set it on the fly, or with ACR.

Archives: definitely I have to be something broken on my Windows itself. If somebody wants to try, I substituted old 7z with one archived with the corresponding Mac utility, instead of Win one. It's a bit larger (26 Mb rather than 22).
For the old rar and 7z, I don't have a clue: I tried dearchiving againg with winrar and no errors shown, plus an integrity check made on 7z seems ok. So, maybe the culprit is something deeper in my Win XP itself.

Or it is your uploading. Did you use FTP to upload, and if yes, did you remember to  set it to binary mode? Most archives can get corrupted if upped as ASCII.

Yes, I used ftp and checked binary mode. Tried to redownload and dearchive and it worked, so it has to be something on my windows setting, I guess, because it seems that I'm the only one able to open those archives.

I cant get this to show up in my game. could someone please give me quick description of how to put it in. i placed it in the  your documents /ea games.......neighborhoods section. I must have borked something up or forgotten something.

Kewian, perhaps it unpacked in a subfolder?
The location you put it in is pretty fine, so it should show up... NeighborhoodManager.package does regenerate as well, doesn't it?

About the concept:
I had never imagined that some sims would look so much better as opposite gender.
Hell, I don't want to take my eyes of John Burb now... well, he always was my pretty boy in Pleasantview, but he's an extremely pretty lady.
