THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I'm doing a historical medievally thing (may or may not do a story), and I need some good looking and functional castles. Anyone got any good links?

Castles seem to either look good from the outside, or be functional.
I've not come across any that are both.

It has some pretty good castles/historical lots. As with most lots, some are more functional than others.

It's in some sort of foreign language but it's not too hard to navigate (loads slow, though).

Hope it's what you're looking for  Smiley, I recommend the "The English Country" set on page 2, very pretty and functional.

Castles on hilltops look good, especially in neigbourhood view, but I can never get the camera in a good position to play those lots.  I wish creators would build their houses on flat terrain and rather use a neigbourhood with hills in it.

Sim Estates 2 has a bunch of castles, though I can't testify to their playablility: http://simestates2.planetthesims.gamespy.com/castles_1.htm

And I found this one at MTS2 -- I've plopped it in Blue Water Village for 'atmosphere', but I also checked it out, and it looks like it has a pretty decent and playable layout:

Hmmm. I don't trust simestates since I downloaded some furniture from there that borked my game, but the other one does look pretty cool. Thanks.

Howdy!  Pleased to meet you  Cheesy

I am new to Sims2 and to participating with sites like this, though I have been observing and learning here for some months.

http://ts2creations.com/dresidentiallots.htm

This was the first castle I downloaded and I placed it in my first neighborhood, Strangetown.  What a christening!  It was quite playable.

Much obliged to all of you for the abundance of knowledge and the delightful, sometimes darkly amusing posts.  It has been a true pleasure.

Best of luck to you, rohina.

Those Chrissie ones are gorgeous, but so huge and impractical. Thanks for the links.

Cyclonesue at TSR made some awesome ones. If there's something you want, PM me.

functional castle on 2x2

http://www.simposieum.net/content/view/78/4/

Of the three castles I've played, this one works the best.  The other two were just as lovely but so large it would take forever for a sim to make it to the bathroom, let alone make to work on time.

Oh, that's mine! Smiley
I think it's easy to play even though it's a large lot and it should be easy to customize for your needs too (tear walls down or put in new ). The terrain is fairly smooth as well. Do you think I've pimped it enough now?

I love this guy's lots. For the most part, they're pretty playable and look nice. http://thesims2.ea.com/mysimpage/uploads.php?user_id=158371&nstart=1&asset_type=lot

One has a bit of a castle look about it and might be what you're looking for. The interior is a little small, but it's a neat place. http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/lot_detail.php?asset_id=402648&asset_type=lot&user_id=158371
