THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Ever since getting Pets, my simkids have recieved a magical power.  Roll Eyes When one of my sim kids interacts with another sim, old or young, doesn't matter, they tend to randomly float.

Anyone else having this problem?

Yep, I'm seeing it too, but I've only seen it on one kid of the six or so households I've played since installing, and though she did it most of the time I couldn't really detect a pattern determining when she did and didn't.  I thought she was just a little glitched graphically 'til you mentioned it.

I have the same thing since Pets. Really weird how they just pop up in the air like that. Tongue

I tried to age a child to become a teen with Simpe, and that is what happened. They had teen interactions, but still looked like a child. They walked on air or the ground, but always jumped up when interacting with anyone.

Mine don't do any of that, it's just when they're having a chat with someone, usually. Every once in a while they'll pop up.

Yeah, mine are just when they're chatting with someone. They're still kids with kid interactions though.

Same. And I didn't do anything in SimPe, either. It may be two completely different things you got going on there, lemmingwinks.

I've been having it, too.  I thought it was something in macrotastics (autosoc?) that was doing it, but now I'm not so sure.

I've had it happen with 1 kid on 1 lot, for me - it appears to happen only when the kid is interacting with an adult - while chatting with mom, he is talking and his feet are on the floor,
pic 1 - mom starts talking and he pops up into the air,
pic 2 - she stops talking, he then drops back to the floor and starts talking.

I thought it was the lot getting buggy (been using it for quite awhile with my main family)

I didn't age him up or anything.

It didn't happen at a different lot that has 2 children (that I can remember - don't recall if I had them chat but they did other things together and with adults without any problems) since then I have been busy building (and rebuilding and rebuilding somemore) a new house for my main family.

Certain interactions lack Child animations. Do you know what exactly he's doing to cause this?

FYI - I've experienced a similar thing that lemmiwinks described, with a sim being one age but having the animations of another. This also happens if a sim has age transitioned on a lot, but then gets reset for some reason (either by some interaction that results in a jump bug due to a poor hack or if you force an error on them). In my instance, children that were age transitioned to teens had the teen model, but after being reset, they would walk around all scrunched up with only child animations.

I came across this when I was working on my grow-up townies hack. If you save after age transitions, then you should be fine. But if you play for a long while and something gets buggered, your sim could get screwed. IIRC, I don't think that resetting them or deleting them fixes the problem. However, if you age them down (or up) and then back again, I think it should fix it. I wouldn't suggest adjusting ages in SimPE unless you change all the proper related fields and what not. It is probably best to only use in-game cheats to age sims up and down. However, using cheats does not properly set memories..

I have yet to witness this floating child problem in Pets, but then again, I haven't played any households with children yet.

I've had it when they've been talking to other kids. I once had it when both kids were floating. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture.

in the house I had it happen there is only 1 child at the moment (2 toddlers and 4 infants)

in the other house I played theres 2 children. I don't recall having the problem but I don't think I really checked (don't recall having either of them 'chat" with each other or an adult)

I'm hoping to spend sometime playing today and I'm going to check all my lots that have children, including the first one to see if it is still happening (I've removed some hacks since then)

I saw it happen when a kid brought another one home from school -- they were chatting autonomously and both were floating.

ok, I checked 3 more Lots with children.

Lot 1, it happened randomly and it didn't matter if it was adult/child or two children - chatting
Lot 2, never played it before (Kim family) and it never happened, no matter how many times the kid chatted with his parents or they with him.
Lot 3, it happened randomly when child was chatting with an adult (no other child aged kids on the lot)

No errors came up while playing with testing cheats on.

Silly question... did any of the lots where the floating effect happened have the split level effect, where half the house is at ground level and half is on a foundation?

Nor in my case -- in fact, the house in which it happened doesn't have a foundation.  It's on ground level.

I've had it happen once (after installing pets). Visiting kid popped up in the air when she was talking to resident kid. Only time it's happened and it seemed relatively harmless if odd.

I saw it happen today for the first time. I noticed there was some weeds at the back of the house so sent a child to pull them up. When I checked to see where they'd got to I found them floating in the air while filling in a hole that some random pooch had left behind at the front of the house.

this reminds me of what would happen in sims 1 when adult animations were used for kids - they would kinda jump up and float, harmless but looked silly and annoying.  Could this be the case here?  That kids are somehow using adult animations?

one of my toddlers keeps bobbing up in the air when he autonomously interacts with the puppy.  he floats up to kid height (not adult).
