I got the message, downloads are ready for your computer and I got the IE 7 in the critical downloads well I have it now and it keeps deleting my cookies. I have to log in to all my favorite sites over and over. I have read the instruction manuel and it only tells you how to delete cookies not how to keep them. I am going to have to get rid of this goofy thing and try to go back to 6.0. It said there was a way to delete it or maybe I will just try using system restore. I hate this thing.  |

To change your settings go to Tools--Internet Options--Privacy--Advanced
You can roll back the version if you can find the .exe...
My husband is out of town and he im'ed me saying ie7 is out and he thinks i'll like it better than firefox...boy was he ever so wrong. It sucks...especially the tabbing. I mean if you are going to copy a feature at least get it right.

well I got rid of it, it was in the add remove programs. Now auto update is nagging me to get it back !!!! argh yes, I tried firefox but heard that is was not as secure as IE. I dunno  |

I think firefox 2.0 is the a litte better than using ie6. So if that's what you're using now, you might as well make the change. It's functionality is so much better than ie.

FurryFox is WAAAAY more secure than Internet Exploder. Fat Head was using Internet Exploder, and got a Flagrant System Error. Computer over. Virus = very yes. |

IE7 is slow as all get out and I get debug errors a lot. It pisses me off, but does not surprise me.

I use both because some websites do not support Firefox.
You just have to go to the Firefox extensions page and get 'IE Tab' -- it lets you use the IE engine in a Firefox tab for websites that don't support IE. You can set it to automatically activate for certain websites. I haven't had a problem with it, and I don't think I've loaded IE since I got it. |

Get bloody Safari. At least it blocks adverts automatically, Firefox ain't half bad, a nice browser that I use on the very rare occasions that Safari can't cope/

Opera is a browser that is faster (at least on Windows) and more secure than Firefox. In addition, it has more features built-in and still uses memory than Firefox without extensions. Speaking of which, if you're not using extensions such as Adblock Plus and DownThemAll you're better off using something else if you're on Windows and haven't compiled Fx yourself. Supposedly Firefox 3 will be faster since they're ditching some legacy code but we'll have to see.

sorry, just work in business with people complaining about programs and its their own fault the program isn't working right. Lemme rephrase in a less angry way. IE can be setup so it's not insanely retarded. firefox still totally beats IE because it's even easy to customize to your needs, and totally owns IE 7, which is just garbage. |

ThyGuy I get what you are saying. I was in the IT field for almost 10 years. I have to be more patient and understanding with folks that just do not have the experience I do. Not everyone is computer savvy.
I also over look or forget things myself, stupid things, and get quite embarrassed when I do.

Well, for me, Firefox is the only way to go!
Also, if we're going to talk about which looks the best, I'm going to have to say that Internet Explorer 7 looks the best, but that's me. I don't really see too much of a speed difference between Firefox and Internet Explorer 7. Some sites load at the same rate, some faster, some slower. |

I've got to agree with you here though, there's quite a few sites that I visit that don't render right in Opera. The Opera team can flaunt the fact they can get a smiley with the Acid2 test, but it seems that anything that passes that test has problems rendering things as well as Firefox or IE. IE7's interface is horrible and I believe it's a tad slower than what it used to be. Sure it's a little more secure than IE 6 but why risk it when Firefox and Opera exist? |

That can't be right. I have IE 7 and after I've logged in to things once, I never have to log in again. The only time I do have problems is when Evil Norton at home decides they are 'unwanted' cookies and promptly deletes them. Lucky I don't have Norton at work |

The only time I do have problems is when Evil Norton at home decides they are 'unwanted' cookies and promptly deletes them. Lucky I don't have Norton at work I use Firefox cos I'm not computer savvy and I'm skeered of Microshaft anything! I had no idea evilNorton was responsible for deleting cookies. I had Norton 2004 with never a problem, but since it's no longer supported I bought the 2006 version. Since then I've had nothing but trouble with cookies being deleted willy nilly....I've had to retype my 16 digit loging for internet banking so often I now know it by heart  I've checked my Norton settings, and my browser settings and everything looks right. So far, the longest I've been able to stay logged in anywhere is a week (this week....knock on wood) so maybe it's fixed itself...... |
