Pet jobs menu problem

Ok, this is a weird one that I'm sure is probably the fault of an incompatible hack, but I'll post it here in case anyone else has seen it.  Got one of my families a dog, and they all rolled the want for the dog (a German Shepherd) to get a job.  So I sent the wife to the computer, but all the pet job's came up with text referring to Pets NPCs (i.e., the 'Stinky Skunk').  I have the latest version of Monique's computers, and to be sure it wasn't that, I sold it and put in a regular Maxis computer -- same problem.  Also the same problem with finding a pet job in the paper.

I can't think of any hack that would cause this, but I'm sure it's the result of a non-awesome one.   So I'll move them all out tonight and see if it solves the problem.  If any of you have run into something similar, though, you might help me narrow down the search.

Try removing the Monique computer hack first. It may say "not global" but that's a damn lie.

The next day:

Well, you were half-right -- it was a Monique hack, but not her computers.  I moved the monique folder out of the game, and the problem went away.  Put all but the computers back, and it came back. Took them out and put the computers in, and no problem.  So it's one of the others --- I'll have to play come more to track down exactly which one it is (or see if someone else has reported it and if she has a fix up).

Found it -- it was her 'Bring Friend Home from Work Dialog' mod (her version of TJ's 'Bring Friend Home from School Dialog'). I didn't notice she posted a Pets update for it, but the update fixes the problem.  FYI in case anyone else runs into this.

Well, I've just had a very similar problem and removing Moniques's computer solved it.

I tried to get a pet a job on M's computer, the messages about the jobs kept referring to Brandi, the sim. I thought that was odd but went ahead and chose a job to see what happened. Sure enough, poor old Brandi Broke ended up a vermin chaser - hope that wasn't a comment on her choice of men! I tried a normal Maxis computer too and had the same error.

Exited without saving and checked MATY, found this thread. Removed M's computer, restarted the game. Interestingly, both computers were gone - kinda supports Dizzy's observation that it's global!

But the pets can now get a job, in their own names, not sim names or npc animals thankfully.

yep, I had a similar problem  the jobs were all for the sims ..including children. When I disabled cc it worked properly.

I've not had that problem with Monique's computers  -- my pets can get jobs just fine from the paper or computer.  So it must be some weird interaction between monique's computers and another hack you have and I don't.

Make sure you have the latest version of her computers -- I think the last update was 11/4.

Cheers for that update info, I'll think I'll wait before getting a new computer - I'm now trying to track down why the cars won't come for the pets. Probably another hack conflict from what I'm reading. He he, everytime I get the error message it says, 'invalid species'. What, the car?

ETA In my current play hood, Pets did something really weird to parentage as well...

I don't know if this will fix Witch's weird parenting problem or not but Two Jeffs has Puppy-Kitten Parentage Fix which addresses issues with weird pet parenting.
