Computer offers only one job

Since I've reinstalled my game, Sims iin Strangetown who look for a job on the computer are only offered one job. All Sims are Maxis made sims on Maxis made lot. Has any one else had this problem? Any suggestions?

I've had maxis sims be offered the same SET of jobs over and over from the computer/newspaper, everyday.
Moving houses didn't help. I just ended up going into simpe and giving them the jobs I wanted them to have.
Maxis-made families that I only started playing after uni came out have a tendency to be really wonky in my game.

Are you testing sims that didn't go to Uni? (If you HAVE Uni, that is.) Sometimes there are only Uni jobs in the paper that they don't qualify for, so there aren't any job options.

One sim was a university grad. The other was a teenager. I've changed computer's with no success. I'd hate to have to move the Grunt family out of their house to find out that won't work. I'll try it with another family. Thanks for the suggestions.
