Pet pregnancy questions

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Sorry if this has been asked before.  I searched but couldn't find anything.

I have a few questions about pet pregnancy:

1) How many hours does it last?  Does the length of pregnancy vary depending on whether the mother is a big dog, small dog, or cat?

2) Is the number of puppies/kittens determined at conception or at birth?  Is there any advantage to moving some members of the household out prior to the birth in order to make room for more puppies/kittens, or is the number of offspring fixed at the moment of conception?

3) Will saving and reloading right before the birth cause the gender of the puppies/kittens to be re-rolled the way it does with Sim babies?

1) 48-59 hours (random - determined at conception)
2) Conception. Yes, if the dog/cat was going to have multiple puppies/kittens and there is not enough room. The # will be reduced to the amount that will fit at birth if the lot fills up.
3) Yes.

Length of pregnancy is random?  That's interesting.  Thanks....

The guide says that the game rolls a random number of allele and genome packages at conception, then at birth those are distributed. Supposedly it to create the effect of two dogs that look the same, then one that looks like something else. Or as I like to call it, the Lady and the Tramp effect. Five puppies look like their mom and one like the dad. Classic.

That's a huge pile of puppy shite. That's not what they're doing at all (although they are trying to make the kids look the same). They are not storing random dna strings any such place that I've seen. LIES & PROPAGANDA!

All my kittens look the same so far, but they haven't grown into cats yet. They should have some variation in fur length and markings.

There is an 80% chance that the second puppy/kitten born will be a clone of the first. If this happens all subsequent kids in that litter will be clones as well. If the second makes the 20% and is not a clone, the third has a 70% chance of being a clone of the first and all later born will be clones as well. The fourth puppy/kitten is always a clone of the first puppy/kitten.

What about personality-wise? Is there any of that same personality bug going on that human sim babies born in game get?

Probably, since its using the same primitive to generate the spawn regardless of species, but I haven't really looked at that yet.

What really pisses me off is that were mucking around in the make babies primitive code and still didn't give us a way to control gender. Assholes. Angry

Speaking of pet pregnancies, are wombats and birds supposed to get pregnant?

Because I tried the "Propose, Move In" to a dormie and it popped up with a "You cannot move anyone in until the babies are born!" message.  I have a wombat and a bird, and this is a college rental property.  I've been having too many problems with that stupid college.   Roll Eyes

Edit:  would it have something to do with moving Panda the Wombat from a a college student's old home via the inventory?

I think it's just a glitch Chee-z, I got that trying to move in, in a regular hood, a sim who didn't have any pets, not a womrat or a bird, or even fish, she did have a baby, maybe that counts as a pet, but hardly a pregnant one.

I'm assuming it is a glitch concerning putting a pet wombat into the Sim's inventory.  When I moved the guy out of the house, the glitch was conveniently gone.   Roll Eyes

My sim's dogs have had two litters of two pups each.  In both litters, the pups' personalities were identical - Virgo the first time and Gemini the second.

I'm actually having serious problems with pet pregnancy, I have two dogs who's pregnancies seem "stuck", both have been pregnant for more than a sim week and no puppies.

One is a big/small dog pairing one is a big/big dog pairing.  I have tried forcing errors with debug to reset them, I have tried the tombstone of L & D (but there is no speed up pregnancy for pets).  I've tried moving the family out and back into the same lot, and out and into a brand new just placed, never been built on or played on lot. I have taken out all mods/hacks, and all CC.

The chimes played for both dogs and the try for puppies option has disappeared, and the pets refuse to go to work since "someone as pregnant as me should stay home and rest"  In one family it's a single male sim and two dogs, on another lot it's a single father with a teen, a child, and two dogs so space shouldn't be an issue in either case.

However another big/big dog pair, and a cat pairing, on different lots both had their litters without incident, and looking around several forums I don't seem to be the only one who has this issue either.  I'd appreciate any advice and can provide error logs if wanted/needed.

Post the logs from forcing errors on the pregnant dogs. They may or may not help, but I'll take a look.

Here's the logs from the two dogs. (Sally is the dog in the large/small pair and Hillary is the dog in the large/large pair.  Thanks for looking Smiley

Edit to add these logs were produced in my normal play game with all hacks/mods and CC as I normally play, although as already stated removing all hacks/mods/cc the dogs still don't have the puppies.

I had this problem and the culprit was Squinge's Teens Age to YA without College hack. The pets won't age or reproduce with that in. I took it out, and both of my stuck pregnancies unstuck and I now have a litter of pups and kits!

I know, I know...NON-AWESOME. But for those of you playing with that hack, it's a good thing to know.
