my 2 chihauhua's(sp) had 4 adorable puppies that couldn't enter the house at all and hunger was real problem so much so that I ended up giving the puppies away to the welcome wagon  |

Puppies, like toddlers, can't climb stairs. If they live outside, stick a food bowl out there.

My sims can carry them but I usually just move them around with moveobjects cause it's much faster.

Are puppies supposed to be able to sleep in the pet beds? I only have one puppy in the game so far and he won't sleep anywhere but on the floor. I tried to have someone pick him up and put him in the pet bed but it didn't work.

Yes, they can sleep in the pet beds. Mine did that all the time until I trained him not to. I want my puppy to climb on the sim's bed but that's probably a little too much right now. If puppies can't even climb stairs, that bed looks awfully high.

What's the trick with carrying a kitten (puppy, though I haven't tried those yet) to upper floors?
Pick them up, tell the sim to go somewhere, then choose to drop them up there?
That only functions in theory for me, because stupid Cassandra drops her kitten before she walks upstairs. *gnarl*
Not that I mind the move objects workaround; still, it would be nice to see it working as intended.

Pet beds are ridiculous. They take up sooooo much space, and only one teeeeny little kitten can use them at one time. So unrealistic. Cats who like each other always sleep in a pile.

Cats sleep in a pile unless it's hot, and then they sleep as spread out as possible. Too bad Maxis is still thinking in 2-D and couldn't give us more than 1 being per square. I think that puppies and kittens should sleep with their mother, and suckle instead of eating pet food, too.
