Yes, I know that many people here are annoyed with Maxis EA for many different reasons, and I will keep to concise.
I am very disappointed that Maxis EA did not include a "Body Shop" for pets to make different eye colors, skins, and anything else that we were promised was customizable. I can understand the going into the game to make new breeds part, but really; do we need to be kept from making a cutom pet eye color?

No of course we can have custom stuff. Maxis EA just said wait for the SimPE people to make something.

Well, yeah, but the last time we waited for SimPE to be fixed for OFB, it was at least 3 months after the game cam out initially.

Well, I know it's not as good, but you can use a lot of options in Pet CAS, including uploading to the exchange if that's your bag.

Yeah, but what about EYE and FUR colors? We shouldn't have to wait for SimPE to be updated just to add some uniqueness.

I agree. Sorry I dont post very often (I read more).. I was very upset about this when I got the game and realized they didn't update bodyshop.. They claim to like that people make custom stuff, but then they fail to supply us with tools to do so...

I can see why that would annoy you.
I'm pissed at EA for another reason alltogether. Pets was only released on DVD in the UK. After telephoning various retailers and asking for a CD version, I eventually drove over to a store that put the Pets CD aside for me only to find that it was in fact, a DVD. I then had to drive to another town to buy a DVD/Re-writer, over 30 miles in all.
I was told that it was only released on DVD as the CD's can't hold that much info, but have noticed that other countries seem to have CD versions?
Pets has so far cost me £45 not including petrol. Grrrrr.....

Yeah, I paid £19.99 but an extra £25 for the DVD/Re-writer. Damn my lack of computer savvy, my other half said my cd drive won't read a DVD - I didn't think to just try it anyway

Well he was right. A CD drive can't read a DVD. However, a DVD drive can read a CD just fine.

yes he was, besides - logically speaking...why would there be such a thing as a dvd drive if cd drives could read them? (keeping in mind that dvd drives came after cd drives)

Yes, that makes sense but I've been reading here and elsewhere that others bought the DVD version and it worked for them. I just assumed they meant it worked in their CD drive? Never assume as the saying goes. Silly me

My gripe is that after installing EP4, not a single cleanbot or sentrybot remained in any of my residences.
Had I known they would be removed during the installation process, I could have moved them into an inventory.

Are you sure that's not a hack conflict of some kind? My cleanbots were all fine, they just needed to be turned back on. Not sure about the sentrybots, though. Karen

Most relatively new PCs have a DVD-ROM drive or burner instead of a CD-ROM or CD burner. Since more and more (but not enough!) games are coming out on DVD-ROM gamers were early adopters, and likely already have them. Of course the Sims demographic is quite different.

What a veritable font of information you are jordi!
I'm not a hardened gamer at all, in fact I only play the Sims so that gives you an idea as to my level of expertise when it comes to hardware lol. Software too if I'm honest. I astonished my other half the other night by announcing that I was off to defrag my computer, his jaw hit the floor!

Are you sure that's not a hack conflict of some kind? Positive - running a hack free game right now till the EP4 dust settles and as Maxwell Bennington has a flourishing robotics shop in Bluewater, my Sims families patronized his place so there was a cleanbot, sentrybot, or both in every house. Played the Bennington house last night and their bots were missing as well and I know darn well they had them because the corner where the cleanbot was stashed was empty. Am slowly moving through my 16 homes (have five private dorms in Uni to get to as well), but so far I haven't found any bots except Servos. BTW, Servos do a good job of scaring the hell out of strays. Bailey, the yellow-eyed whatever, entered the Swain home and ate the teen's homework (which was rather funny) but when he showed up at the Bennington place, I had the Bennington Servo chase him off and he tucked his tail between his legs and ran full speed into the portal.

Had I known they would be removed during the installation process, I could have moved them into an inventory. If your bot was left "on" at the time, it would have become an NPC that disintegrated when it got reset. You can respawn the bot by shift-clicking the empty base.

Problem is, the "empty base" disappeared too.
