The Sims on a plane

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I was just on Amazon and they listed this little info tidbit for me.  I didn't see it mentioned yet, but if it was, I'm sorry for wasting your precious computer time. Grin

The Sims are going mobile, but probably not in the way you assumed.

They took over higher education in The Sims 2 University; took over the workplace in The Sims 2: Open for Business; took over the town in The Sims 2: Nightlife. They even have time for pets and bling in The Sims 2: Pets and The Sims 2: Glamour Life Stuff. The sky seems to be the limit with the Sims, literally. According to Kotaku.com, EA is in negotiations with DTI Software to bring the Sims, as one of a slew of games to a seatback near you. EA representative Tammy Schachter says that the planned in-flight version will use existing art and gameplay mechanics but that it will be a totally new game. No plans for multiplayer support as of yet, but can you imagine multiplayer gaming on planes, hmmmm? Give the people something fun to do and watch those nasty old carry-on luggage, cell phone using, one bag of nuts per customer controversies Sim-ply melt away.

Yeah... I can imagine the lawsuits that occur when the fortysomething businessperson's selfsim interacts with a thirteen-year-old's adult sim.

Lawyers:  RAR, you promote BAD THINGS!
EA:  We were just trying to think of ways to keep people occupied and not hijacking!  Honest!

ROFL!  XD

Just what exactly then is 'inappropriate nipple'?

I mean.. does the nipple suddenly and without explanation squirt people or something?  I'd find that pretty inappropriate, not to mention rather annoying when trying to sleep on a plane or the like.  But seriously..  not even counting for the fact we're talking computer generated pixels here, when not speaking of someone with some severe brain disorder, when's the last time you honestly heard of anyone traumatized or otherwise damaged in some way because they saw a friggin' nipple?

Humans are silly creatures, says I.  Wink

On a side note, just imagine the parody possibilities here.  I haven't seen it yet, but I suspect taking Snakes on a Plane and twisting it around to become Nipples on a Plane could be good for all sorts of laughs.  Cheesy

Normally, my spiffy avatar-matched banner-thingy goes here.  Since no one else here seems to use those though, and I have nothing particularly witty to add, this space has been intentionally left (not entirely) blank.

LOL I'd imagine that they'd handle it like they do for TSO. If you want to see anatomically correct Sims, you load a hack onto your computer, so you don't appear to be naked to anyone else.

Oh I would be so happy if they could come up with something like that.  I've comtemplated buying a lap-top to play the Sims2 on a long haul flight I've got coming up in the next few months.  A 20 hour flight could fly by ('scuse the pun) if I had the Sims2 to play.

Mind you, I probably wouldn't see much of my chosen destination, "I'll be along in a minute darling, just decorating this house" Grin

I don't think I'm capable of playing an unhacked game.  At least, not without yelling (with lots of swearing included) at my sims when they do silly Maxis stuff.  Yelling like that on a plane is probably not a good idea ...

I'm sure some porn producer somewhere is filming 'Skanks on a plane' as we speak. Smiley

Too true.  They will probably take out a lot of the more interesting things too.  I'm pretty sure there will be no sim woohoo.  On the up side, I'm sure they will still be able fight at the drop of a hat.  Wink

Knowing EA they'll probably have some gimmick like if you play the game on a plane you get an item that you can use in the ground version.  I'm guessing if this is going to be Single Player it'll be a lot like an unexpanded TS1 with TS2's graphics.

I wonder what the other games that might be in the planes could be?

I was wondering that too.  There will probably be the requisite sports games, kids educational games, some type of shooter (or maybe not???), puzzle games, poker game, etc.

I don't think they'd have shooter games on planes...  would give too many people ideas!
