Missing the Hours

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Okay, so for a long time now I've been bugged by this problem, but I don't want to take out every hack I have and replace one-by-one just to find out which is causing the problem.

Basically, the in-game clock will never show an "on the hour" reading. For example, when it should be reading "8:00 AM," it will instead stay stuck at 7:59 and then skip to 8:01. I was curious if anyone else has noticed this problem and if there are any hacks that may be causing it. I know that it works fine in an unmodified game, so one of my hacks is probably causing it. If anyone knows of one that causes this problem, please post.

It's normal to not see the ":00" on your clock every hour on the hour? Considering I already said it shows fine for me with no hacks installed, I'd say no.

I don't think I've ever seen the hours show, with game modified or unmodified.

Currently loading with no CC (fresh hoods, not my own), to check once and for all.

Edit:  with a game entirely devoid of all CC, the clock flips straight from 7:59 to 8:01...

you are mistaken, the missing hours is NORMAL, as I first tried to say.

Maxis may have broken it with an expansion then, because I know for a fact I've seen "6:00 PM" before while waiting for a certain Sim to age so I could start a birthday party. It may have been base game-only or Uni-only, but I wouldn't remember which.

An expansion pack probably did it. It didn't happen until I bought one.

That happens because Maxis sets almost every one of its objects and controllers to update every hour on the hour. Since there is a huge amount of code running the clock skips. It's not a big deal. The more EPs you have, the more objects and controllers, the more time it takes to update, the more often the clock will skip at the top of the hour.

It's no big deal really.  I find that minute :59 tends to last about twice as long as normal minutes.  Incidently, I've seen a few people on the BBS saying that if you give your sim the command to stargaze using the expensive telescope at exactly 12:00 at night they'll always be abducted.  I've never seen that time not skip (I imagine with the day change there's a particularilly large amount of code running), so I suspect that it's a practical joke because they end up with lots of repiles saying something along the lines of "Hey, it went from 11:59 to 12:01."

Thank you for the replies. I'll get back to plotting against Maxis now, except with increased fervor at this outrage...  Wink

Or, bless the little sheeple's hearts, they think that it is true.
