Haunted Community Graveyards?

I have recently had a number of first generation sims die. I have moved all of their tombstones to a graveyard that is a community lot. Will these dead sims come out at night as ghosts if I send a sim to the community graveyard at night? Do the dead sims haunt community lots?

Yes ghosts will haunt community graveyard lots. In my experience the haunting doesn't seem to be as frequent as residential lots though. Sometimes it takes the third or fourth nightime visit to the cemetery before the ghosts come out to "play."

Oh, thanks Cabelle, I didn't know that either. I play heavily on the knowledge sim side, now they all can see ghosts. I only have a few dead sims --yeah, I know, I'm a softie-- not nearly enough for all my knowledge sims.

Community lots can be haunted. However, the haunting seems to only initiate at a specific time, so if you arrive at night, but after the hour the ghosts will appear, no new ghosts will appear. Other potential nuisances include the fact that every random idiot in your game will wander by, and the ghosts will attack and damage your other sims also. It helps to thus make graveyards ownable and restrict the type of visitors who appear.

in my games the ghosts seem to appear around 20:30 and disappear around 06:30
In order to see the ghosts my sims have to arrive on the community lot before 20:00

When I last played Pleasantville (an age ago), I wanted Morty Goth to see a ghost, however, they just floated around despite me placing him in different positions where they would have to cross his path. I tried for three nights (Sim nights that is) and eventually gave up.
Am I missing something?

No, you're not missing anything. Sometimes the ghosts just wander without bothering anyone. Other ghosts seem to like scaring every person on the lot. Maybe it has to do with how mean they were in life -- I've never really checked, but it would be interesting to see if that's one of the factors...
