I need a screenshot of the winrar nag screen.
I am trying to help some people who are having trouble with winrar, I need a pic of the nag screen. I would use one from my winrar, but I just downloaded it again, and am too impatient to wait for the trial to run out.
Could some obliging person please upload one, or send me a link in PM.
I would post this in Retardo Land, but I don't know what sort of crap people will post in there.
I will press the thanks button for all obliging people.

Marvellous, thats exactly what I was after. *hits the thanks button. If you would like to know what I did with your snapshot, here is a link to what I have done with it. Beware BBS linkThis is a work in progress at the moment. Uploads there are more successful when done a little at a time.

you dont even see the nagware screen if you simply right click on the file and choose extract since it never actually 'opens' the file.

For intelligent people this isn't a problem, but over there, if it is not explained, they will cry and moan and make 50,000 threads about it. OMG11!!!!11 "woolprop killed my winrar"

You also never see the nagscreen if you download a keygen and get rid of it.

I don't know what's so ignorant about paying for a useful program that I use on a regular basis. I paid for many other programs/games I use, too, including TS2 with its expansion packs, Paint Shop Pro or Milkshape, so why not spend 20 or so Euros on something like WinRAR. I know it's not a common thing to do, but I don't understand what's so shocking about it. I spend a lot more money on each trip to a grocery store than I did to a program like WinRAR, which is a one-time payment only. I spend two or three times as much money every time I fill up my gas tank. It's not like WinRAR is a huge expense compared to many other things in life. And my computer with all its little programs is something I use all the time.

I could see paying for WinRAR, but Winzip? That thing can't even open .rar files, even 7zip can do that.
Speaking of 7zip, the .7z format has better compression than .rar but its not significant. Of course, that's assuming that these files are archives and not a TrueCrypt file or something which in that case there's no compression. As for the program 7zip itself, it's free but I've heard that it uses a lot of system memory.

Yes, but that's all part of the budget!

Yes, but that's all part of the budget! That depends on how you prioritize your budget. If you can't afford it, that's fine, but my thinking is then you either accept the nag screen, or get a free alternative like 7-Zip.

I use both WinZip and WinRAR, because I prefer WinZip and use it when I can.

I like WinZip's interface much more than WinRar's. I use WinZip when I can and WinRar when I have to. I've paid for neither.

There are some things that 7Zip can compress much better than WinRAR. I use it when swapping whole neighborhoods, and I have had cases where a neighborhood zipped in 7Zip is half the size of the same neighborhood zipped in WinRAR. I haven't noticed it using more memory, unless I'm using the Ultra compression while creating a big archive (like a whole neighborhood). Unzipping is quick and doesn't use more memory. The evil part of me would really enjoy creating a ton of awesome Sims 2 content, uploading it all in .7z format, and watching people have heart attacks over it. Sadly I am prevented from realizing this dream by the fact that I can't create awesome content.

ISTJ - what a crazy random happenstance

How nice of you to provide a tutorial for the sheeple. I have one criticism. I would NOT recommend using the default Sims 2 installer. That will most likely lead sheeple to install lots with families and sneaky hacks. I highly recommend encouraging the use of the pheverstool. I personally use 7zip myself. The evil part of me would really enjoy creating a ton of awesome Sims 2 content, uploading it all in .7z format, and watching people have heart attacks over it. Haha. Evilness rules. Ste

Windows XP allows you to extract files from .zip files, not .rar.
