Does anyone have a guide on replacing NPC outfits with SimPE?

I'm aware of SimWardrobe's NPC replacer, but it does not have all the NPCs I want to replace (Second male maid, Llama mascots, Secret Society) and I'd quite like to learn to do things the old way.
So where should I start?

I want to make default replacements, not give exsisting NPCs makeovers.

I know Windkeeper has done this for regular clothing, and she has a tutorial at TSR, but I'm not sure about the NPC part of it. You could try to PM her at MTS2.

After some looking, I found the guide.
I couldn't follow it straight, since the clothes I want to replace don't appear in bodyshop, and I had to do some searching to find the correct textures.  And for a bit of added confusion I had forgot that the Llama outfit came with the base game, not university, so I was looking in the wrong place.

Anyway, I haven't seen if I got it to actually work yet, but at least the guide was great.
