Why does an Icon dress like a football player?

In my game, Keanu Broke recently reached the top of the Acting profession and is now an Icon.  It really bugs me - in Sims 1 the Rock Star had a cool outfit to wear for work, but all poor Keanu gets is that rather boring tracksuit.  Couldn't they be bothered to create something for him to wear?

And since Maxis didn't bother, is there some way I can find an outfit that would fit the bill and then assign it to the Icon?

This may sound silly, but what about an outfit from the Phantom of the Opera or some of the 17th century Frocks that I have seen?

Thanks!  I'll definitely check them out, although I've got a nice Victorian tuxedo from AllAboutStyle which might fit the bill too!

The problem is I don't know how to get him to wear it for work instead of the tracksuit - and if I get other sims to the Icon level, do I have to change it individually or does once work for all - in which case I'd better get something for the Females as well!

I do wish he could have spun an LTW for that though, as it is he's still trying to get 20 sims to fall in love with, which is getting more difficult now than I thought!

Also, I know there have been some on replacing Maxis defaults for other things.  Some of these are locked and I think SimPE will allow you to unlock them in the Object Data, but I don't know if this is the only place.  I know AncientSim was trying to replace the default Maxis wedding gown for her bride that dropped dead at the alter, but I don't know what was decided.

When I first saw your topic title I thought you were going to tell us a joke.  I was thinking about the picture icons on the computer desktop and wondering what on earth the answer could be.

I kept waiting for someone to come along and say. "I give up, why does an Icon dress like a football player?"

   Well, if you've got an Icon in your game, you'll know why I think it's really bad, like they took Daniel Pleasant's old track suit from before he became a coach and gave it to the 5,000+ simoleons-a-day Icon as if he couldn't afford to buy a decent suit!  Really, does Steven Spielberg attend First Nights in a track suit?  I think someone at Maxis just couldn't be bothered!

And it's bad too that Professional Party Guests could go to work in something they'd been doing the gardening in!  They ought to automatically change into Evening Dress!

Is it an inside joke with them like, 'One track mind'?  It's the same way with the Elders, the most exiciting thing they own is a tracksuit.  It's as if Maxis had relegated their most desirable aspiration to being able to go out for a jog around the block.

I can't understand the Acting career using that, it makes no sense, it's as though they forgot and left it unfinished.  There are so many much nicer outfits available, but all the defaults are absolute dregs.  I think the programmers must dress like this for the most part and so I suppose they see nothing wrong or unusual about it.

My husband works in IT as a Network Admin and even when he worked where the public never saw him, he has always worn a shirt and tie.  There were fellows in his division that their entire wardrobe was made up from free t-shirts they received from the vendors.  All they wore were their jeans and those stupid Ts.  They always teased my hubby about looking out of place and bragged about not having to spend any money on work clothers.  Well they looked the part too, but guess who was the one always called to the Mayor's office or to see other city officials?  As a consequence they all have to were department logo shirts now and khaki slacks, but they are allowed the option to wear a shirt and tie.

I've just read Dilbert Future by Scott Adams. That is totally the culture he describes and satirises. Brilliant!

You could understand if they were low paid! 

I still think Sims Icons would dress the part if they had the choice!!!!!  I mean, it doesn't have to be an evening suit, but at least VERY expensive designer wear!

Have you ever seen pictures of real life mega-celebrities arriving at the studio in the morning during a shoot?  It's like Dawn of The Dead.

I think the "story" around Sims Icons is that they're going to be dressed and made up by their stylists once they reach the studio or theater, so why bother getting all dolled up?

I still think Keanu Broke wouldn't go to the studio in Daniel's old tracksuit!!!!  Beau is Mayor now, and he wouldn't want his brother to outdo him in the style stakes!

I have two female sims who made it to the top of the NS career, too.  They have one leaf on the front like the guy in your avatar does, one on the behind and one covering each breast.  I wondered what the male version was!

And what a surprise the first time they went to work!  Nearly naked, and flying up like Captain Hero.  Wouldn't think those leaves would stay put doing that! lol

Off topic I know, but may I ask a question please? Is it a good thing to get your lips ripped or a bad thing? And how does it happen?

they come home with their needs completely green too. except hygeine which is completely red.

plus they stay at work for nearly 24 hours, and thus out of my hair for an entire day.

i like this job.
