Can't greet a visitor

I've had this problem with two lots in my current game. Someone comes to the door; I order a Sim to greet him/her. Said Sim walks up to the front door, and then does nothing - the greet order just falls out of the queue.

(What usually happens next is that the Bathroom Uses You grabs him and gives him a "wait" order for what is in fact an unoccupied bathroom.)

What's going on?


Edited to add: hmmm, after I deleted the BUY loo rolls, the lot worked OK, and I could greet people. Did the greeting, did the headmaster scenario, put the loo rolls back. Now I can greet people. Whatever.
