A common glitch

Hurray! At last I'm just like the Windows-using majority. Let joy be unconfined etc.
I find I have the widely-reported "Not going to final exam" glitch which basically consists of sending your Sim off to the final exam only for the puter to deliver the message " Dullard missed the final exam. Don't make a habit of it".
As the usual spit-and-string Maxis patches are as much use as Bill Gates in a charisma contest to me what to do?

Works beautifully except now I have acquired a sudden problem with the "Hang Out" interaction. It works but after a minute or so the non-controllable Sim gets up and wanders off. Surely this is not related?

That is most likely unrelated. I've had that happen often. Maybe the non-controllable's sims needs are in the red. Sims are weird creatures that are slaves to their needs and often prone to doing stupid stuff.

No this now happens every time. I know it used to do that from time to time but now it happens ALL the time.
