Fully empathize wth you, but the caps are scary because of their association with the BBS, where caps, colored text, screaming oversized fonts, and siggys with stupid sayings overshadow all.

Anyway, thanks for the warning about the bell - haven't installed any elevators yet.

I've honestly never really noticed and/or cared about it much.  How often do your Sims use the elevator?

Strangely, I found the elevator bell to be somewhat subdued. Given the way Maxis usually does such things I was really cringing the first time I took a sim to a lot with an elevator. I figured the sound of the bell would be enough to force me to delete the elevator, but I found it quite unobtrusive.

(I must be a bit of a masocist. I just take for granted that many things about The Sims 2 will just be annoying.)
