This is taken from the official site. I love this object and I am sure I am not the only one using it. Quoted from Sims 2 site: "We've updated the "Runs With Scissors" object to prevent conflicts with your Open For Business game." Here is the link to download the new version of it: http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/object_detail.php?asset_id=272

That object is hilarious. I do recall though, someone dropped dead from playing with it and that too, was hilarious.

Oooh, goody. If it can still kill sims I think I've finally found something to add some drama to my damned game. Oh, you knowledge sims who think you want to be saved from death... hehhehheh.

Well I should have known not to run with scissors. I can't say for sure what the conditions are that one may die using the object, I presume it might be green aspiration. I don't know since I wasn't paying attention to what the sim's needs, etc. were when she died. It could just be random. EDIT: I opened it up in SimPE and yes, it is random.

When they originally posted this object, it was much more lethal and the odds of dying higher. A lot of people on the BBS whined that their sims died from it and they didn't know and they got all worked up bla bla bla so they released an updated version a couple days later with much lower odds. This thing was released on April 1rst last year btw.

It's great for Sims who have a need to be saved from death. Just used the updated version yesterday for that purpose.

Hehhehheh, awesome! I'll definitely give it a go once I have some time to play; I was really disappointed when I tried to use the old version and got an error because it wasn't compatible any longer.

Lower odds? Aww, man. I want the original back. I did use it in OFB by the way. My sim picked it up and it immediately vanished. Nowhere to be seen. Didn't get my simoleans back either.

I was actually going to ask if someone still had the original more lethal version but seeing as how it wouldn't work with OFB anyhow I suppose it's a moot point.

I opened it up in SimPE and found what I think are the odds and altered them. I have no idea if my ham-fisted mucking about will actually work, but I'll give it a go later tonight and let everyone know what to change if it does work, assuming someone else doesn't get to it first.

So that was what was up with it. First time I ever used it was last week when I was trying something new with a family tree which didn't work, long story, anyhoo, I had all these elders I wanted to dispose of quickly so I decided to try the running with scissors way to kill them off but it didn't do anything. They just picked them up and the scissors disappeared. I was like"what the...". I couldn't understand why they didn't at least run with them a little. So now I know. Thanks for the link, I try it again to see if it works this time

I thought they were more likely to die if they had a drink at the bar first... was that just a stupid riumor from the BBS?

Hehe. Don't drink and run, kids!
I never heard that, but then I haven't played with the scissors much.

I don't think you need Uni. Base game works.
