Can't change townies clothes - yes, that again

After I give someone a make-over, I want to change their clothes.  Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.  For some reason the "Plan outfit" screen will have no choices, no matter how many clothes the sim buys.

I'm wondering if it has to do with the townie's neighborhood.  Can downtownies only "Plan outfit" downtown?

I would really love to see a fix for this.  Has anyone researched it?  Thanks!

Oh, I forgot to specify - I'm using the mind control mirror.  I know I can use the teleport bush to make someone a family member, then make them a townie again, but don't want to do that.  I have no way of knowing if a random sim is truly a townie, or a Maxis sim living in a house somewhere.

Making sims selectable to plan their outfits hasn't worked (for me at least) since NL. A workaround I use is to use Inge's teleport bush to temporarily move them in as a full fledged member of the household (once you do that they will already be selectable) then plan the outfit, then use the bush again to clear them off as a townie. Someone posted an altered version of the bush here in Peasantry that also gives the option of moving sims back to the downtownie household.

OFB lets you suggest outfits to townies, if you're into clothing store business.

I have change a few townies outfits with (suggest outfits to townies) and half of them became invisible. I think that this option is buggy along with the setting of the uniforms for a buisness.

If the townies buy the outfit you suggest, do they change into it and appear that way from then on?  That would be cool.

Yes. You can also suggest other outfits such as formal etc.
So far I dont have the invisible townie bug with the feature.

Or you can use Christianlov's Clothing Boutique Rack.  Works great with all EP's.  You don't have to mess with changing them into family members then back to townies.  Search for it at MTS2.
