they aren't hoods, they are just terrains for hoods. gethane posted them so we could use them for our hoods if we wanted.

I would say if you want to use it for a hood you are going to make available for others then giving gethane credit for the terrain would be a good idea.

excellent description. and feel free to use them for whatever. I've noticed in my searches for interesting terrains, there just aren't that many out there.  So I like making them. Heh, for one thing, I only need one hand and can stop whenever I need to. I have a 2 year old and an 8 week old (and 3 preteen/teens) so I get distracted a lot and only really get to really play the sims a couple times a week.

Putting these terrains in your SC4Terrains folder simply makes them available to use to generate a neighborhood for yourself. They won't have any decoration etc. Once you use these to generate a neighborhood, they become MUCH MUCH bigger.

An sc4.terrain itself is about 200-250 kb. A fresh neighborhood is much bigger. THough if you delete all characters, it brings the size down a lot.

I edited my OP to include another terrain I'd been working on, Blackrock Bluffs. All pictures should now be included. Hopefully it works, was my first time doing that.

Having some trouble with the island map. Did you want bridges connecting the island? You don't have to have them, except for realism sake.

Not sure if you're having the same problems I had, but I wanted low lying land - beach level land on the island. If the land is too low for Simcity's liking, it won't build the bridge. You have to build up the land a little bit around the base of the bridge in order to place one - which sort of defeats the look I was going for. If you find a way around that, please share.

yeah, that was definitely a problem. It won't just build a bridge laying flat on the water, like the lowest level of land.

Thanks for the input! And no, haven't found a way around it Sad

The blackrock one you made suits me fine, it looks like what I requested for.  Grin

The bridge is ok with me but you can take it out if you wish if you are not satisfy with the result.  I will definitely download this one tonight.

Did you updated the others and add all the pictures needed?

EDIT:  Meaning the lush, desert etc. like you did for the Blackrock one?

There are a couple that I would love to have.

1.  A copy of the neighborhood from TS1.   I can remember seeing one somewhere but it was a pay site.

2.  A really big neighborhood with lots of streets, room for a couple of hundred lots.  Very little water or mountains, but not entirely flat.  Rolling terrain with some low hills along one or two edges sloping down to low ground on the opposite sides.

Those would be really appreciated.  I got your others above but I have a lot of custom hoods

By the way,  does anyone know what would happen if you deleted the terrain that one of your hoods was using? I have some I have used that are really crappy but they were the best I could find at the time and got tired of using Pleasantview over and over. (I consider Strangetown and Veronaville to be pretty crappy too.  Not enough room for lots.)

I'd like a SA4 terrain that has lots of beach front locations for beachbum housing and resort locations.  It can be a irregular coast with sandy inlets.  Some streets can be close together and others spread out for pallatzos. (Ritzy places)

Added an island terrain to the OP.

The center island is hilly, the outlying ones less so.

THe bridges just weren't working for me, for multiple reasons.

This probably isn't a terrain I'd play on, but perhaps someone likes these sorts of things.

After installation of OFB, its tougher to get low lying areas it seems. In another terrain I've been working on, when I transfer it into Sims 2, the low lying areas sometimes become scattered water. Imagine some dough you are forming and stretching into a pizza crust and it starts tearing in the thin spots.

I was having a problem with low land as well - had to give up the hood I was getting so frustrated. Be careful with low land - even if it shows ok, as soon as you add a lot with a basement or pond, it sinks the land all around it and you get flooded basements and the terrain around the house (like the road) gets flooded. I had wanted some nice gentle sloping beachfront land - not cliffs - and just couldn't get it to work.

If you're still so gracously taking requests, could I put in for a couple smaller terrains with quite a few streets?  I'm not too keen on sprawling suburban--or even sprawling urban centers...  I'd like to make my own sub-hoods, but the terrains are all too big for my taste.  And seeng as my copy of SC4 is ruined, I can't make them myself.  It's not a demand, just a request... feel free to ignore.

I think it depends on how much lower the far edge of the lot is from street level. I am actually hoping to use this on purpose, as I have been making a bunch of beach houses and such on stilts for it. That's why I requested the neighborhood. (Thanks gethane!)

Haven't had the experience with basements or ponds yet, but it's pretty much unsafe to have a lot with any part of the structure below sea level. Kind of makes sense though, if you think about it.
