Taking videos

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

When I first got the Sims 2, I seem to recall being able to take videos at somewhat of a decent speed. I haven't been able to for a while and I wondered if everyone had to deal with video capture so slow that it doesn't seem reasonable.

I have
     Athlon 64 3200+
     1 GB pc3200 DDR ram
     80GB 7200 rpm hard drive
     6600 GT Nvidia GeForce

It seems to me that that OUGHT to be good enough to take videos. When I watch these sims movies I just can't imagine these people have to deal with video capture that's just a few frames per second.

Or maybe I'm just expecting too much?

Anyone have any video capture tips or know of a site that has some tips regarding what performance to expect vs your hardware. I've looked around and I haven't really seen anything with discussions about this.

Thanks!
