I once paid for a lifetime membership on a site (not related to sims), and afterwards read the fine print only to find out that my lifetime membership is only good for 5 years!

I think I'd be wondering if they knew something I didn't.  Tongue

I think, knowing El Presidente, that you'd be better off mailing in a bucket of raw chicken.

This is actually a perfect example of irony.  I was looking up the terms irony, satire and sarcasm, (they are apparently often confused) and realize that this thread was a perfect example of irony.  lol.   To think I actually learned something from MATV (that is not sims related that is)

I hope you're not telling us you didn't pay.   Shocked

I took advantage of JM's awesome payment plan, myself.  I got one month for the price of two.  Shop around.  You can't beat that price with a stick.

I'd be surprised if anyone can mail El Presidente checks, much less boxes or (my god, what could be in them) buckets. It's my understanding that his address is one of the secrets of state stored in the government warehouse, probably guarded by the modern version of Cerebrus as well as the Men in Black, alongside the Ark of the Covenent and the Holy Grail and the Proof that Aliens Exist.

Angelyne, you read the wrong description Smiley - you should search for  HUMOR, not for IRONY.

Irony, Satire,  and S arcasm contain a Critic Point of View on the subject. Saying - "doh, I am clever", contains a critic point of view on myself, i.e. "I am dumb".

Humor doesn't contain any criticism   - it's mutilated description of a situation. Stand-up artists describe their experiences in a humoristic way. They don't intend to critisize anybody, just to laugh at it.
The anecdotes are good example of humor.

So, this thread is a humoristic one - not ironic or sarcastic. We laugh at the "fee issue", we don't critisize it...Smiley.

And I'm with Kristalrose here. How did they get in?

There is a difference among the various kinds of Stand-up comedians; some of them use Irony, Sarcasm, and Satire. As people can't "live" with humor alone - many stand-uppists use the above attitude (i.e. the critic point of veiw - irony, sarcasm, and satire). They think it's more sophisticated...Smiley.

The Humorous kind is just like in the movie "Punch Line" (Sally Field). That's the "pure" humoristic attitude, and I point to them.

So, you have to recognize the different kinds of the Stand-Up commediants.

I think humour depends a lot on the language, racial background etc. of the humorist.  French humour is very different from English, which is different from Welsh, Scots or Irish, and is again very different from American.

I loved Punchline. Great flick. Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors.

I think "irony" is hugely misunderstood. Drives me nuts. Remember that song "Isn't it Ironic" by Alannis Morissette? The word is used improperly throughout the entire damn song. I can barely listen to it.
