Downtown section, can it be copied into another hood?

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

I am getting tired of editing the Downtown section for every neighborhood section and I was wondering if there is a way to copy safely a downtown section from one hood to another.

We could easily do that in Sims 1 but I cannot figure out how to do it in Sims 2.

I tried it too and failed.

But after I redecorated few lots, I packaged them, and when I open a new Downtown, I buldoze these lots, and put instead the packaged ones.

I think it would have to be done from the Mydocs folder, at a guess you would have to copy all three Downtown files across, and rename them to the number of the hood you copy them to.  I'd only try it in an empty custom hood, just to see if it works!

First, though, I'd create the Downtown in the new hood, then make copies of the files you need to copy across, rename the copies, then move them into the new neighbourhood folder and let windows overwrite the old ones.  But I've absolutely no idea if it would work!

Thanks for your reply.  Gali nice suggestion, that is what I will do. Now why didn't I think of that!

Thanks Zephyr but I am not willing to take that chance, packaging seems like a nice compromise to achieve what I want.

Well, if you use an empty hood, it's just an experiment, not a chance exactly!  I might try it though, since I'm always interested to find new things that will work!

I'll certainly do that, but it may be a day or so before I get around to trying it!
