I've never done this before, I've just always let the baby stage run through and let the age transition to toddler happen naturally. So, I've done a heap of searching at various sites for mods/hacks/tips etc but with no luck. I tried to use merola's mirror to make the baby selectable and grow it up with the Tombstone of L&D (my idea, hey at least I'm thinking here....well sorta LOL) and it worked except of course the toddler will only be selectable for a short time *duh, me* So my question is obviously...how do you do it?

Use the birthday cake. It usually only glitches up if the baby has a dirty diaper.

Is the birthday cake supposed to work for an immediate transition from baby to toddler? If so, I can't get it to work

SimPe and the Enhanser are very helpful tools. Babies' life is usually 2 days (3 in game). If you change the "remaining days" to 1, the same day you will have a transition. I do it all the time.

Thanks gali, but that doesn't really help me as I don't use either program

Yeah, it should transition baby to toddler. Only if it's the baby's actual birthday, though. The cake will say "bring 'x' to cake".

Ausieone, do you want a picture? - I use it since I bought TS2, never deleted it. It's from Jerry, and it can add/sustract sim days. You hang it on the wall, select the sim, and choose the option. My e-mail is in my profile.

I never use the cake anymore. I got sick of it failing, having to buy more cakes, and having to clean up the old cakes. I use Pescado's baby controller. When I get the one day to go message I select an adult and click on the baby controller to 'grow up' the baby. Using the controller means that aging babies to toddler is now a piece of ... cake.

I use the cake without problems, from the beginning. Without parties, only inviting some friends.
When you get a message that only one day is left, you buy a table (the small one), put the cake on it, select mom or dad, or one of the grannies, click on the cake, and order: "bring x to cake". From then on, everything goes autonomously.

So what I'm gathering form the info given (and thank you all for your contributions) is that I still need to wait till the 'one day to go' message before I can age a baby to a toddler..is that right..or not?

All Pescados Suck.

The reason why it fails a lot of the time is because the sim holding the baby is waiting for all the other sims to come over and join in. To use the birthday cake, you need to get one of the teen, adults or elders to 'bring so-and-so to cake' Once the sim is stood there waiting, go through all your other sim's on the lot's lined up actions and click off the cake icon. Then the baby will 'blow' out the candles and age transition.

The InSimenator will allow you to grow up any baby regardless of how many days left before birthday. It has worked every time I've tried it.
Also, I discovered that the new Lot Sync Timer has a Grow Baby up function like the one on the baby controller if your baby is within a day of aging.

What I think they're trying to say is there is no way without cheats or mods to age a baby straight away, but when you get the 'so and so is growing up in a day, time to buy a cake' message, that's when you can either use the cake or the baby controller if you have it.

Does the NL AgeSimsCheat (or SetAgeCheat or whatever exactly it is) work on babies? I haven't tried it on infants, but it works great on townie children so they grow up along with your playable sims. And it's easy enough.

Normally I just wait the day out, but when I used to be extremely impatient to see genetics I would use testing cheats, then click on the baby and select "set to birthday". Then you can age up with cake/baby controller/whatever.

I've used Merola's painting, days left in age, babies, subtract 3 and the adults fight over who gets to help with birthday.

With my hacked birthday cake you can age up any sim at any time. They go through all the birthday cheering and get the memory and everything, but you can do it whenever you want, no matter if the sim was only just born that moment. And then you can decide what day the elders die using the cake too.

That's exactly what I use! Inge's cake! =D There's not much point in having a baby around... and they won't eat the cake, when they are done.
It's soooooooo nice.

I tried it once a few weeks ago, right after birth. Wanted to see how the funny looking baby would look like when he grew up. This method doesn't come with growing up well/badly memories.
