Placing Group Science Project on Home Lot?

Has anyone been able to place the group science project thingy on a residential lot? I mean, without the game crashing during saving. I guess it's due to the fucked up build mode since Seasons (I think?), but maybe someone has found a workaround? It bugs the hell out of me that my nerd sim has been carrying this cool thing around in his inventory for ages now and cannot use it  .

In case EP combination is relevant to this: I have all EPs except Generations and Showtime. No stuff packs.

I'm pretty sure I had one on my home lot for ages.  I took it away because it was taking up too damn much space.
I'll test it.

Edit:  I placed two of them on my home lot.  Made several sims play around with it and the game saved just fine both when it was in use and not.

You have two of them AND can use them without problems? Now I'm jealous .

Just found a workaround myself - I placed the thing and swapped lots. I lost the wishes in the progress, but meh. Thanks for testing!
