OK, here's my problem. My lot view funstions (the NL ones) are greyed out, and I want them back. Any ideas before I do mental and use Rippy?

I don't know Database, unless it's to do with the computer being unable to handle the additional RAM-gobbling that 'neighborhood view' needs. In my game they are usually not activated and I do it in game (sometimes). The click-sensitive area for 'neighborhood view on' seems to be off center in my game, and I have to move the cursor off to the side of the 'neigborhood view on' button to get a response. I found that out accidentally, at first I thought that I could not activate it at all either.
If it is anything other than that, I hope some tech-savvy person can help you.

It may just be that you need to change your settings to something higher than the default.

Did you used to have them, or has your computer always sucked?

Ummm...I think I'm on the top setting
They used to work. I think it's the patch that crap*ed it up.

Odd! Have you tried taking your Groups cache file out and letting the game generate a new one?

In Documents/EAGames/TheSims. It's supposed to be a cure-all for a lot of odd things, so could work. Anyway, you can't cause anything to go wrong by doing it, as I said, the game just makes a new one. I've just done it, and the new one is only 15kb as opposed to the old one which was 590+kb, so presumably a lot of stuff is stored in it which isn't necessary to the game, but may contain errors, so making a new one makes a lot of sense. Anyway, my game is actually running more smoothly sinse I did it.

MaxoidTom suggested deleting groups.cache, so I assume it's fine. I've done it numerous times with no problems, this has also occasionally fixed things.

Well, as I said, my game seems to be running more smoothly now I've done it, so it obviously has some good effect. And although the game has been running several hours with the new groups.cache file, the file is still minute compared to the old one!

Thanx 4 the info, ZephyrZodiac. I checked my group cache and it was 194 kb and it is a pretty new game. My game has been slow and funky lately, I'll see if this helps.

Have you got the Hoiday Add-on? A lot of people have reported problems after installing this.

If it was me - I'd move the whole sims2 folder to desktop, start up the game to get everything to reinitialise and see what it looked like then. If it's OK, I'd look for a conflict of some sort the usual, hard way. If not, you know it's not your files and you can put them back when you've re-installed. I'd probably unmodify anything I'd changed in those script files like the modular stairs or lighting.. I guess you've probably already tried all that huh...........

Sick of Bluewater? Try Sedona or Meadow Lawns instead. Meadow Lawns is a whole neighbourhood built to explore OFB. Sedona is a sub'hood you can install as a permanent alternative to Bluewater - it's an "out of this world" experience! www.moreawesomethanyou.com/cwykes
