Can't interact with Ambitions + No mods

I've been on the hunt for a few days for the solution to this problem, and everyone is screaming "IT'S YOUR MODZ!" but I don't have any, no downloads, no nothing.  I even went through the process of uninstalling all my eps and the base game, and reinstalled every single one until I found the point of contention.  It's ambitions.  As soon as I install it, I can't click on sims to get them to interact.  It's like clicking on a brick wall, no menu options, nothing.

Any ideas?  I used to have mods before I reinstalled, but I completely removed the entire folder and the entire downloads folder.  No luck to speak of.  I'm at a loss and totally annoyed.  I checked to see if this topic existed elsewhere, but it was a mod-related issue, and this is not.  Unless there are some tricky ghost mods floating around in my game directory...

So you had mods at one time? Could you have some leftover in your install folders from before the new modding method?
