1) Are those the "DCBackup" and "DCCache" folders, or just one of them?
2) Does doing so remove them from the launcher and the game, or just one?
DCBackup is a waste of space, delete it regardless. DCCache has all the items you've installed via the launcher in it in a few large DBC files.

Right then, I've tested some things out. Sadly, none of them worked, but here's what I've done / learned:
Tried just playing the game to see if the launcher was lying.
Result: Launcher was not lying, but installer was, as it reported success on everything, when only items that I did not download from here installed correctly.
Deleted everything in DCBackup and DCCache,
then reinstalled everything through the launcher. Result: Installer reported success on everything, as before.
Tried running the game after doing that, without quitting the launcher first
(since everything definitely showed up 'installed' then). Result: Just as before, only the content not downloaded from here was installed. The installer lied about the rest, and relaunching the launcher reflects the fact that they are not installed.
Now, where to go from here?

The deleting your DBC files was an answer to your question about how to delete launcher installed stuff if it was lying. That had nothing to do with trying to make them work, sorry if you got confused. As far as what to do next, make sure your compressorizer and decrap files are all up to date. And to double check the instructions on how to decrap store stuff, because you've got to be doing something wrong for it not to work.

@dalahast and eat_toast: does Delphy's Multi Pack Installer not work on Mac? Cause if it does why not just extract them as .packages or even download .packages and put them in the downloads folder? I could be talking out my ass I don't know anything about Macs. I hate using the launcher for ANYTHING so that's my method.

I was able to run it as well under Crossover (a program for running Windows programs from Mac OS X, using WINE), but I didn't know what to do with the .package files it produced, and the launcher didn't seem to be able to do anything with them.
I've double checked some stuff and I'm going to try again with one or two files right now, as a test, to see if they work.
EDIT: Looks like I've got things working now, using the Compressorizer with "Decrapify" instead of "Normal" did the trick (though I suppose part of the problem here to begin with was that I did not realize that "Decrapify" was actually an option—imperfect Windows emulation means, in this case, that the control next to Decrapify did not appear, and I thought it was just text. Clicking where the control should be fixed it.)

Delete everything in DCBackup. You don't need any of it. Don't delete the files in DCCache.

One last question: if I delete things from Downloads, do they stay installed (since they're in the DCCache)?
In re. "Huh wut?", I was asking if deleting the files would remove them from the launcher (despite still being in the game), from the game (despite still appearing in the launcher), or both. Irrelevant now, though.

Correct, once something has been installed a la launcher you can and probably should delete from the downloads folder, it's only taking up space.

Well, you should keep them around in case you ever want to do a reinstall. WHICH IS FREQUENTLY, PROBABLY.
I just have an old_downloads folder inside my Downloads folder that I move them into, so the Launcher doesn't have to load them all up every time.

That's the reason I was wondering if I can delete them or otherwise move them, so the launcher doesn't bother looking over them every time. Thanks.

I'm not sure what other people are doing to their games to have to reinstall so much but I've only had to twice, one time was my fault the other was because my HDD died.

They're called "expansion packs."

Why do you have to reinstall when installing expansion packs?

Your entire game, if you did something wrong. LOOK, NOT IMPORTANT, JUST KEEP BACKUPS OK.

Hi hi,
So I recently decided to try out the new expansion, and start playing the sims again. I reinstalled and re-downloaded everything fresh, and managed to get everything straightened out and working, including store content for the most part. The only problem I seem to be having, is that a few store items, (Such as the sports theme, the one with the framed jersey etc...) I'm getting a duplicate thumbnail, which is blank and cannot be selected, the other one works fine.
I'm not sure if it's a bad file or a result of my screwing things up a bit while decrapifying. Trying to drag the files to s3rc wasn't working well for me, so I tried again with the batch command. Which worked fine, but is it possible this may have been the cause of the duplicate thumbnails? Since I installed through the launcher afterward I don't see how that could happen.
Edit: Nevermind, case of tight pants. ^_~ Found out the issue wasn't just with a particular store set, but with most wall deco and lights. I believe it was caused by one of the mods to make store items shift to diff. heights on a wall with Late Night.

Question:
Game patched up to the latest, and working fine.
Many, many EA Store items, downloaded from here, installed and working perfectly.
Recently downloaded some more Sets and they show in game, and work fine, but they don't show up on the launcher, which sucks because I want and need to delete some items form those sets that I didn't like.
Any idea what that might be about?
I haven't found the answer nowhere yet.
Thanks.

Bono? Is that you?
Bono, you should READ MOAR. Because if you simply READ MOAR, Bono, you would maybe notice that this problem was talked about here about two days ago. It shouldn't be hard to find.

It was talked about here...? You mean in this thread? Well... No, I thought you were talking about something else. Anyway, I re-read everything... I still think the problem seems similar, but not the same. At least, the potential solutions given here do not fit my problem.

Hey... ellipses are.... amazing. So... just leave them alone... ok? they are a... very useful... literary tool and also... they are good for replacing commas... ok...?

It looks like EA is planning on updating store items. On their site under updates, there is a section for store updates. There's nothing there now, so we'll have to wait and see what they do with it.

Can someone post a non 4shared link for the latest ToyotaSet3.Sims3Pack? My ISP might had did something on their end, 4shared no longer works for me, it keeps refreshing itself after the counter expires. Same as rapidshare...
