Strange names

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Lately my game has been doing a strange naming thing. It takes two of the names from my custom sims and hyphenates them, then gives them to game generated sims. It's very annoying. Nearly every new sim has a hyphenated name. Has anyone else had this happen? This was happening pre AMB and I don't have WA. I turned off the "use awesome naming rules" to see if that would help but it didn't.

I think the hyphenated names are an EA thing. For sims that get married, AwesomeMod naming rules will give them the (more traditional) male sim's name. Since I don't yet have AM installed, I set this option in Twallan's Super Computer because I don't like all those hyphenated names. A few would be fine, but for each couple? No, I don't think so.

I have no idea why you would be new sims added to your neighborhood being named that way; I have never seen this in previous AM versions so I'm thinking this is an EA thing, too.

I don't have awesome mod, my game is pretty vanilla and this is happening to me since the installation of Amb. Tongue

Yeah, I wouldn't mind a couple of hyphenated names but not all and using some of my uncommon names, like Oosterhouse-Finnegan, or Lyons-Wentworth.  Roll Eyes

And what happens a few generations down? Do you end up with someone named Gloria Oosterhouse-Finnegan-Baker-Strauss-Hannigan-Grand-Lyons-Wentworth?

I thought that this only happened with twallan's story progression? I haven't seen it in my game when I've run it vanilla.

I think there's at least one premade family in Twinbrook that has names like that. I'm thinking it may have been added for Ambitions or the latest patch.

Just slightly off-topic here, but hey. Ambitions turns out to have some quite funny names. Gala Ball, most of the Racket family, Zo Wheloff, Lang Gwydd, Cho Sonwhun, Des Eyre and Penny Pincher, to name just a few. Made me laugh.

I must be moar curmudgeonly than you, because I'd rather have a neighborhood where Aggie didn't name everyone.  Besides, EAxis can never top "Goopy Gilscarbo".

I like 'Molly Coddle.'  This naming thing happened before Ambitions but I do have Twallan's story progression. However, I have the names set to 'husband' (Besides being old, I'm old fashioned!) And, I wouldn't mind a few hyphenated names but I don't like 'it' using my custom names on all the new sims.

The paper girl is named Dee Liver. It's a good neighborhood, and I love the swampy area, but it's much too big for my taste. Once CAW gets updated for Ambitions I plan on making my own little swampy hovel to contrast with my tropical city.

Not a pun, but there's a redneck named Shark. I thought that was awesome. I may be mistaken but I think he has a brother named Raptor?
