Here's another link to it:
http://www.kickasstorrents.com/the-sims-3-ambitions-vitality-t4122386.html
Am I simply blind or does this one not include a keygen? And I'm having a devil of a time finding one by itself on the internets.
With Utorrent (not Azureus/Vuze) as a client you can choose what files to keep from a torrent, you could therefore just grab a couple NFO files.
Thanks, I did check out the NFO. :3

Could anyone confirm if the download works for Mac? I downloaded it last night and all I have is a folder full of incomprehensible files, but I don't know if there's some way to make them work or not.

Well, my speed was at 170 kB/s a while ago, which was shocking, but welcomed as that was the highest it's been since I started the torrent yesterday. Now it's back down between 8 and 10 kB/s. Pathetic, really.
I've already set it to allocate a high amount of bandwidth, but is there anything else I can try to help the speed along a bit? Perhaps changing some kind of setting in BitTorrent?

I just remembered that I have the EA multi key keygen from a torrent site. Saw it mentioned in another thread although I haven't tried it yet myself.

My speeds are pretty much the same. Been downloading for 24 hours now. However, the ETA is now 40 minutes. I swear this is the slowest thing I have ever torrented.

I used the FTP link someone posted in this forum and it took about 2.5 hours from start to finish.
For those considering torrrents, here are some tips:
-It's the first days the game is released so it's quite normal that the seeder/ leecher ratio is coocoo. Because it's such a huge file, many people with limited bandwith are gonna hit and run, it sucks but that's just the way public trackers work. You can use a private tracker for better seeder/leecher ratios.
-There is a good FAQ on the uttorent website for setting up a client to maximize speeds. Things like port-forwarding, firewall settings and router setup can have a huge impact on your speeds. If you force encryption, allow incoming legacy connections to be uncrypted on slow torrents.
I just skimmed through this article which is updated from march of this year:
http://www.bootstrike.com/Articles/BitTorrentGuide/
If you are a noob and/or you are running the application's default settings for torrents, chances are they can be improved by following those steps.
***
If all else fails and you realize your internet speed just plain sucks, you can look into calling your ISP and requesting a temporary on demand increase in speed.
For a few bucks I can increase my speed significantly for 24hours by calling customer service and just get billed for it later. I'm not in the US though but it may be worth a try for some of you.
On a precautions note, VPN trials are great to cover your tracks when downloading such a popular file. Many companies offer trials for their pay service but you may also choose to use OpenVPN (free but slows down the connection for many).

I think my connection just plain sucks. As of right now, I'm living with my parents (yeah, I'm so cool) so I have no control over any of the Internet settings and don't know too much about it, since I've never had any control over it.
I'm okay with computers in general, but I am a n00b when it comes to this sort of thing, though I have used torrents in the past. I suppose if the speed continues to be unbearable, I will poke my computer whiz friend tonight and see if she is able to help improve the speed. She's usually the person who solves any and all problems I'm having with my Internet connection and/or computer.

Downloaded. Installed. Played for maybe half an hour, and it has already crashed on me, twice.
The game has never crashed on me before. Pretty peed off.

Add the game to the DEP. There's a thread on the first page of this board addressing CTD issues with Ambitions.
I'm giving up and just buying the game tomorrow after my driving lesson. My birthday's in August and I'll get birthday money from family members that will make up for the purchase, anyway, which I'll put towards university. Financial problem solved (in theory).

Just thought I should report that I downloaded the Rar linked, extracted it, extracted again, then installed. It installed without a hitch. It played without a hitch for a few hours until I closed it myself. It is the same file as the one on the torrents and should be just fine for Macs as there are mac files in there.

Ah, really? I extracted the .rar on the left, and got the folder on the right:
And inside of that folder, well, I'm lost.

@ Sparkles: Those files depicted inside your unzipped folder are another sequence of compressed files. Just left click the first one ending in 001 and extract it to your folder of choice for your .iso to appear.

Currently downloading, decided that I too, am too cheap to go and buy it tomorrow lol.
I've never downloaded a Sims expansion or stuff pack before. Once I've got it and unzipped, is it just a matter of burning it to a disc?
I'm heading into dangerous territory aren't I, lol

I haven't ventured into patching or EP2 waters yet. I'm reading, watching and asking questions to be prepared when the time comes.
When WA was released I jumped the gun and was very sorry that I did because all my game saves were unplayable. My current town is wonderful and stuffed with beauty and CC which makes it important for me to be cautious about how to proceed with updates.
If you need a disc-check bypass I think it's in the test file.
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/ts3/test/
Problems have been reported about the game refuting AM's compatibility with the current patch. Pescado is working on it.
You're welcome to try it and give feedback. ( I would only attempt to try it on a new game until the kinks are ironed out)
@Sablesasha: I use Poweriso on Vista and XP and virtually mount the disc to save my drive from wear and tear.
Just install and restart the computer. Left click the .iso and set the number of drives to 1 or more from the context menu ---consequently the option to Mount to drive: x (a letter will now be assigned) will appear in the same menu. The drive and the virtually mounted disc will now appear under the "my computer" interface alongside your regular DVD or CD drive.
You can also browse and retrieve your game disc files this way, for example when trying to find the original .ini or .exe files to restore installed game files to original state before patching.

Downloaded the .rar, extracted it like I should. I go to install the game, and it tells me I need to update before I can proceed with the install.
After a few seconds of trying to update, the installer tells me that "Update of The Sims 3(tm) failed, Setup is unable to continue".
I have all EPs and SPs, pirated, and the original game legally.
Anyone know what the issue is?
(Also, my friend is having the exact same issue as I am.)
Nevermind, I didn't realize that the original game needed to be patched AGAIN.

Thank you Grillcheesesammie.
Mounting sounds like good idea. Give my poor puter a rest that way.
One hour to go, yippee

@grillcheesesammich, I just rearranged my Mods folder with the resource.cfg directions at MTS, but despite adding the file you listed it's still rejecting me. This was also a strange annoyance when I just had the base game. I'd enable the disc bypass in the config, but it would still ask for a disc. I had a legal copy so it wasn't a big deal, and everything else in AM worked as planned, it was
just
the disc issue.

On the disc is a Vitality folder, inside that is a Ambitions folder, inside it is a cracked .exe and .dll. I changed the name of the original .dll and .exe for backup purposes, and am using the cracked .exe. I have no idea what a Mac user would do, the few times I have gone about finding cracked .app files, I have come up mostly empty handed.
AM appears to not be working correctly right now, so it's no-cd feature is pretty worthless until we can figure out what the issue is.

@Sparkles: ah yeah- I do recall that happening to me for WA with a legit copy. I think I found a no-disc mod on the web at the time. Checking torrent comment posts now and will report back if I find anything good.

Aw thanks! I just followed the XML hack by pet_peeve, I think, that let me bypass the launcher. I've known about people bypassing it but I never felt the need, until now. I was all eager because it was finally working after I put it in, but of course, I then got to the saved-game screen and it asked for me to put in my valid CD. Death.
Hopefully with the release of the updated AM this will all be resolved.

@Sparkles: Oh I see, you use the launcher to start the game. Pescado taught me not to do so from the posts on this forum, hence I use the .exe file from the game (TS3EP02.exe for example-- is that the correct name? I am sitting at a different computer) and pin it to my start menu for easy access. I edit those types of .exe files to get my computer to alot them more than 2GB of memory, a technique I learned from posts on this forum. You can also use 3Booter from here:
http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,15585.0.html
but I'm not aware if it's working with Ambitions at this time.
Also I found an interesting post on demonoid which I am going to paste to you in msg as a reference.
It has typos and statements I don't agree with so I am not going to post in the threads.

Fill free to poke me with sticks for asking, but I did search (though most of it was in circles; I'm not that extensive of a pirate cat, sorry...) but has anyone find any good torrents for the Ambitions Prima Guide? Preferably a direct link that doesn't make you sign up to get to it and hasn't been taken down because of "copyright..." blah blah blah?
I know Sims Prima Guides are next to worthless, but I don't get paid until halfway through the month and frankly, I'm curious what to expect. Besides CTD's and all of that.
I'll download the gameplay.package someone put up earlier, but coding doesn't include many "shiny" photographs of the game/new stuffs. Or, you can just call me a brat for asking for too much and be patient. It's whatever.
