Can't get into Uni dorms?

I haven't played Uni since I installed Nightlife.  Didn't have any kids to send.  Now I've got two, and they got moved to the Academie la Tour campus.  I quickly discovered that trying to move them into the dorms caused the game to endlessly sit and spin on the loading screen for a given dorm -- well, for two I tried anyway -- and could only be stopped by manually killing the game or shutting down my computer.  They are not similarly affected if moved into off-campus housing.

I also could not open the dorms in housing mode either.  Same problem.   

Anyone else run into this problem?

This seems to be a form of lot corruption that occurs with old lots once you install NL. My hypothesis of what causes it is attempting to move anyone into the lot before you open and re-save it. It may also simply be random. The only thing you can do is to junk the entire lot.

Bummer!  Well, I needed some new dorms anyway!

A couple of the Maxis dorms have corrupt controllers in them, I read at this site. Not sure which ones. May be worth building a box of your own for uni.

I have been opening & re-saving pre-Nightlife lots prior to use and haven't had any problems yet. It's getting hard to type with all my fingers crossed though.
