How many townies or downtownies do you have in your game? I have nearly 200. I like a wide range but is that too much?

How big is that allowance because i actually have 575 after more discovery *covers eyes* am i burnt yet. Or atleast That is how many character files it is showing for the hood.

I'd say you're starting to toe the line there. Explosions are reported around the 800-1000 mark.

I'd say you're starting to toe the line there. Explosions are reported around the 800-1000 mark.
Doesn't that number vary too depending upon whether you have the expansions and patches or not? I seem to remember having a lot of issues with just vanilla TS2 at a much lower number than that. |

Doesn't that number vary too depending upon whether you have the expansions and patches or not? I seem to remember having a lot of issues with just vanilla TS2 at a much lower number than that. One could hope  . I have 1,270 total sims in my neighborhood with UNI and NL and no problems. *knock on wood* |

Well the townies are all in one specific household. It's not that hard to check in SimPE or TS2Enhancer. I suppose you could even count them with a teleport object like Inge's bush or something.

How can you tell how many sims you have in a neighbourhood? Do you sit there and count them all? Simply go in c:/mydocuments/eagames/thesims2/neighborhoods/N00X/characters folder and it will tell you how many you have in each of them. N001 = Pleasantview N002 = Strangetown N003 = Veronaville N004 and more are your custom hood If you know how many created Sims you have in each hood, you deduct that number and you will know approx. how many townies/NPC you have. |

In my main legacy family neighbourhood I have
110 townies/dormies/downtownies
134 NPCs
2 dead moved in townies
2 dead moved in NPCs
11 living moved in townies/dormies
3 living moved in NPCs
1 dead CAS sim
2 dead born in game sims
30 living born in game sims
the Maxis Uni premade sims (academie Le tour) can't be bothered to count them
14 of my brothers (deleted) sims
1 dead nanny
That makes 310 sims total (not including the Maxis uni premades).
I did all this counting in SimPE.

My main nieghbourhood has 532, that's alot of townies! I always thought there was alot when I play but never knew it was that many eeek!!
Would it be too late to put any hacks in to fix this to a much lower level?

Simply go in c:/mydocuments/eagames/thesims2/neighborhoods/N00X/characters folder and it will tell you how many you have in each of them.
Right, MissDoh. Not to mention, the files are in numerical order. If you have 100 sims you'll have N006_User00000.package through N006_User00100.package. For my hood, I'm counting dead, alive and all other NPC/Townie characters like so: [attachment deleted by admin] |

Oh thanks  I have 196 in my custom n'hood-I deleted the maxis ones  Daughter #1 has 283 (she is playing in uni too-myself and other daughter have yet to create uni's) Daughter #2 has 178 So altogether we have 657 in-game...is that ok?  |

Oh yes, the number 1000 is per neighborhood not all together and it should, according to Maxis, have been enlarge to a bigger number if you have Nightlife but we have no idea how big, so you can have plenty of babies in your game or create new ones without having to worry about a thing.  |

Ok those 575 townies are located between 4 downtowns one main hood and 3 colleges? Is that ok. btw i do have NL and UNi

This is why I'm afraid to install the EPs, I've finally got my neighbourhoods to a peaceful level and was surprised to see I'm down to 4 townies. Adult Ivy Copur, both Orlando's and Joe Carr. The rest were killed off for Email ghosts or just for being annoying.

I'm enjoying playing a house full of townie teens. They are more varied than my sims tend to be and you can't encourage or give permission to go out unless you mess with the relationships. I meant to kill the ugly ones off, but couldn't do it....

I can't either. I've created more than one family with a 'placeholder' sim, just called 'Mama' or 'Papa' as I planned to kill them immediately, but couldn't. I can't kill ugly Sims, I can only kill annoying ones. |

in My custom hood with downtown and Uni I have 310 Sims of that # 233 are Townies,NPC's and characters at Uni that are generated as playable by the game ie Tri Var sorority,Bright house etc.... 67 sims are my own Sims |
