Proper Gardening Badge Building!

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

The hydropnics garden (slacker career reward) has always annoyed me because it builds "Creativity" skill; and what the heck creatvity has to do with gardening, or hydroponics?

I modified its behaviour to build "Gardening Badge" instead of "Creativity". This mod also modifies all shrubs, weeds and flowers to build "Gardening Badge" when trimmed, watered or pulled. As M&G added new interactions to flowers I'm not sure if this is compatible with it, as soon as I get it I'll update. M&G compatible.

Description:
Slacker career reward (hydroponics garden), shrubs, flowers and weeds earn "Gardening Badge" when trimmed, tended, planted, harvested, watered or pulled.

Installation:
Unzip, move to:
"Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 > Downloads".

Required EPs:
- The Sims 2 Seasons
- The Sims 2 Free Time or later

Changelog:
v1.0: Initial release. (2008/11/24)

Known bugs/issues:
When Sims earn a badge (Gold, Bronze or Silver) dialog message won't display as it should. I don't know if I will ever find a solution, but who reads these messages?

This is makes a lot of sense, and I had been thinking about it. Will let you know (by editing this post) how it works with MGS.

Working great for me. More logic FTW. Will be interested in your version, Pescado. Listen to the Gwill. Wink

You can't expect things to make sense. I mean, the connection between hydroponic gardening and the slacker career, or slacking in general, isn't exactly rock solid to begin with.

Actually, it did make sort of sense, when you consider the history behind it: The Hydroponic Garden predates Seasons: Therefore, at the time it was made, there WERE no badges. It is not hard to improve it further by making it build both creativity *AND* gardening at the same time, though. And I can probably fix your weak, insuperior bugs. F'naa!

As for the link to the slacker career, you DO realize what it's REALLY growing, right?

You made me depressed all over again over the fact that no one ever made a decent mod.

Roll Eyes I know it made sense in pre-Seasons era, and I had no complains about it. However a couple of months ago I realized, that since why have a "Gardening Badge", the hydroponic garden needed a change. Also "Gardening Badge" builds faster if your Sim has a higher Charisma skill but not Creativity.

And I can probably fix your weak, insuperior bugs. F'naa!

I'd love that!

Ah, I had no idea.  It is stolen, what a coincidence... arrr.
Too bad some one won't give it a better go.

Back on topic I think I'm going to try this thread's hack.

Well, actually I don't know that the item in particular is stolen. Pandora is just known for stealing shamelessly. You never know what's safe and what is hellknowswherefrom.

It has always been Creativity.

Charisma helps build gardening?  I haven't yet found a list of which skills help which of the fishing/gardening and later badges so this is good to know.

ETA:

Did some better searches and finally found the list I've been missing, on the bbs.  I've always known about some of them such as charisma for sales but didn't know about the rest.

Worth putting that data in the War Room?

Thanks for the post Smiley

Pes needs to move all the posts there, so give him a poke.
Or ask the nominated Pes poker to poke him.
Or sacrifice a goat.
Or ask rohina, she'll know.

I don't think it's war room material since we're not even 100% sure it's all correct.  If someone were to actually find evidence in the code that would be a different matter.  I could swear there was a post somewhere that listed mechanical for the sewing badge instead of the creativity I found the other day, so it is more of a guideline than to be taken as fact.  Perhaps as people find out the truth behind it they will share.
