My creatures aren't there!

Okay, so I installed Spore on my laptop (which is plagued with vista at the moment), and I went to play the game. The thing is, when I go to play cell mode, none of the creatures show up. It's just the background, without the cell or anything. I'm pretty sure it's not just invisible, cause the screen doesn't move when I use the arrow keys or anything... I've tried updating the image drivers and changing the graphics settings ingame, but it doesn't help. Maybe you all know something about this?

Do you have patched version? One Gus Smedstad reported this problem in "Patch Weirdness"; search is your friend

This is what I'm getting as well, post-patch. No more cell stages.

I didn't have that problem after installing the patch; I started a new game after patching, and they're in creature stage now. No problems so far with them.

Thank you... If I can find a patch that works with my arred game, I'll patch it.
