Jump bug back?
« on: 2005 October 29, 12:01:45 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Hmmm this has happened to me a few times, but only on downtown community lots. My sim couple would be sitting at a table, eating quite happily then BAM! ...end up standing next to their chairs.....sound familiar? It has happened in all the restaurants with up to 8 sims. It hasn't happened everytime but 2 times out of 3...eating at home has caused no problems-as far as I know. It has happened on my daughters downtown neighbourhood too. Other than this my game is working great! I have downloaded the nightlife patch.
Has anyone else experienced this?

Was it by chance with those new sectionals? They've been known to have issues and have sims jump out of eating. The patch doesn't fix it either and it's not caused by a hack they are just buggy. Sad

They're even more of a pain in the ass if you put them at home too because sims can't serve food onto tables properly with sectionals and will complain to high heaven.  Tongue

Oh yes! I might go in and change them all into normal tables and chairs and see if it fixes the problem  Smiley That would explain why it hasn't happened on resi lots-I don't use those tables at home! Thankyou  Grin

There's a fix on mTS2 to stop the getting up and changing seats all the time on the sectional sofas, don't knowif it will fix the dining chairs though!  What was wrong with the way they made them for Hot Date?  They never had specific problems after the patch - sims did block them, but they blocked ordinary chairs too.

I can't remember what the fix was called, so you'd need to hunt around a bit.

Well I changed the booth type chairs and added proper chairs. Took a group of 6 downtown for a meal-fine. Took a couple downtown and did all the dining interactions, including surprise engagement, and no jump! Yay!
Thanks all-it must be the booth chairs Wink

Well, they are new and relatively untried, so we must expect a few problems.  Worth trying to find that fix, though, might save you haveing to refurnish all your best eateries!

Well, don't worry, I couldn't find it again - just had a good hunt around evreywhere I went on MTS2 in the hacks section, and couldn't see it, so maybe it didn't work and they've removed it.

Had another look at my own downloads, and it's PART of the Walkby fix by Crammyboy.  Something to do with them trying to use the sectional sofas as doorways, so that could explain them jumping up in the middle of eating too!

That would explain why on certain community lots they had trouble finding the doors to go out to the taxi! I will keep looking anyway.  Smiley

Erk! This thread had me jumping of my chair. Phew. So glad that bug haven't surfaced yet. Thanks for the heads up on those booth chairs. A pity. I really like them, has anyone here tried that hack that is supposed to fix them?

Well, the hack fixes the walkby problems and the problem with furiuos sims blocking portals in my game at least - haven't checked it for the chairs, though, but his hacks are usually pretty reliable.

It's in the global hacks section of MTS2, and I think it's the first page.

Well, not too bad today, actually!  I can't believe it myself - maybe I'll overtake the great (and conspicuously absent lately) JM!

Sounds like it doesn't fix the serving issues with them though when using them at home. If they're going to enable them at home they should have tested it or fixed it. I suspect that's the reason the servers do their 'wella!' (sorry can't spell French to save my life lol) and then the plates just magically appear on the table instead of being placed on it. They probably didn't want to be bothered fixing it so serving works properly with those sectionals. Tongue

I know! I used to have one in TS1 that I think came with Hot Date and really liked putting it in my houses. It worked perfectly too! I guess this is one instance where TS1 is better than TS2. Tongue

I remember that- I had it too.
The sectionals look so nice in my little townhome. Too bad the sims themselves get all wiggy about them. "I can't sit in that seat, there's a seat in the way!"" I can't clear that plate, I have to reach all the way over therrrrrre!"

Yet sometimes they seem to work fine - there's one lot which has a large square table with those sectional seats, and you see sims sliding round to get to a seat without any problems!  Very odd!

There's a lot of stuff in TS1 that knocked the TS2 stuff cold for design efficiency in my opinion!  Pity they couldn't have just reprogrammed some of the good stuff!  Never got barista spam in Unleashed!
