Give up for adoption hack?
« on: 2007 November 18, 19:28:46 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

After fruitlessly searching this website, and several other sites I have failed to find a hack that allows this to be done.

Can someone make and/or direct me to a hack that allows sims to give up children for adoption. I don't mean neglecting them until the social worker comes, and having a bad memory of them being a bad parent. I mean to phone the agency and have someone come pick up the baby, or child.

I would like a more realistic game, where some women, teens and families have to give up a baby for adoption because they can't support it.

If possible make it be linked with a good memory kind of like "Gave (name) up for adoption: I couldn't provide what you needed, and I know it's better off this way"

You can use the teleporter shrub, or one of it's friends and relatives.

The way you want it is not possible as far as I know, other tried but the memory were not working quite well and there was issues with the social worker.

Your best bet is to use Inge's teleporter shrub. No social worker will come to pick the kid up, won't create a memory (well I don't think there will be some), but your sim will be given up for adoption with a few clicks of a mouse.

If they are child or teen, I just use turn them into townies.

Another way to do it with children in particular, if you have Seasons, is to send them out at 4 in the morning to build a snowman.  Before long, they freeze solid and the social worker comes to get him.  That way you get the "lost my child" memory, lots of weeping, etc.  He won't show up in the townie pool, although another Sim family can adopt him by calling the Adoption Agency.

With toddlers or babies, your best bet is to just lock them up behind walls and not feed them.  It takes about 24 hours.  Your sims will get lots of impulses to try to feed it, but they will be frustrated by the walls.  Walls don't inhibit social workers.

Good thing about making them townies, is that if you ever have a family that you want to adopt them, you can use the teleporter and summon the exact child you want.

You might have to add family flags in SimPe that way though. I dunno if moving townie children in like that cause the family ties to set. Otherwise you'll have creepy foster fathers having too much of an interest in their foster daughters and sons.

You don't have to make them townies first, you can adopt direct from their birth family with the teleporter.  Just go to the family you want to adopt the child, teleport the child into their house, move them in and adopt them.

NB actions done by the teleporter result in no memories and no angst.  If you want the memory of having adopted the child, use the teleporter to put the child up for adoption in their original house, then adopt using the telephone at the new home.  I think it's usually last-in first out.

Usually I don't actually adopt, I just have the child move in as a fostering arrangement.  The adults in the house seem to get all the same parenting rights, but the family tree of the child keeps the correct lineage so you know who its parents really are and it can maintain a relationship with them if you want.

You can also go into SimPE and set parent/family relationships whilst leaving family ties alone. I have one family where all their children were adopted this way - one of the adults has the 3 children Uni LTW so (in a couple of weeks) I should be able to report if children adopted this way fulfill the wants too.

Thanks I will try the teleporter.

I don't want to abuse the kid to force the social worker to come, thats just really mean. And keeping the family ties there are not that important to me, because I want this mostly for babies and toddlers. They don't remember birth parents.
