Renaming Character Files

I was wondering if this is possible? I've merged all hoods together, and I deleted all of the excess townies and other rubbish, but I don't like the fact that my characters files aren't numbered correctly anymore now. I'm a freak, I know, but can I change those numbers without screwing up my game?

No, don't touch them. When more sims are created in the game, the gaps should be filled up. It's a self-correcting problem.

Besides, why are you spending time staring at the Characters fiolder, anyway?
