Ok, the pet bowl is perfectly symmetrical. It's circular.
How come then, can it have a preferred direction, and if your bowl happens to be pointed toward the wall, your poor cat will starve itself nearly to death before you figure out that that is why it is ignoring the food bowl?
Grrrrrr....

I got SimAddict99's heart, fish, and bone bowls from TSR. At least you can tell when they've turned themselves around...

I agree, that is ridiculous. Also, even if you place it correctly and then tell a Sim to fill it, it seems 99% of the time when they put it back, they place it in an orientation that doesn't allow the pet to use it.
I get around this by using Christianlov's auto-filling pet bowl hack from MTS2, but surely some talented modder out there should be able to fix this for people who want to be able to refill bowls the regular way.

How interesting. They've taken a problem straight from "Unleashed" and placed it in their TS2 ep. Way to go EA. Why learn from prior errors when you can avoid it.

I've always found that the bowl self-rotates on demand.

Even when it's placed against a wall? It certainly doesn't do that in my game.

I've placed mine against walls, and it rotates.

Yea, I've seen the rotating thing too, especially with the square bowl. The Sim always puts it down at a 45 degree angle, and it rotates to straight when the pet approaches it to use it.

I had a problem with her bone-shaped bowls. It turned itself diagonally somehow, and my Sim Dogs wouldn't eat and wound up being taken by the Animal Cop.

What about just putting it in the middle of the floor? I know, I know, some houses are probably too small for that.

Or teach them to eat people food. Just get a munchiebot, and the pets can eat the pizza it brings. Can pets eat chinese food? Hmm.

Even when it's placed against a wall? It certainly doesn't do that in my game. I concur with J.M. This happens when the sims clean it and fill it.

Just say "NO" to Womrats!

Maybe they were trying to program it like the rabbit head so that it'd turn if toddlers were trying to access it, but ended up doing just the opposite? I've only had the bowl turn with my first sim kitten, and then never again.
