Has anyone tried this buyable NPC/Townie maker?

Since I don't have simpe I was wondering if this would be a good alternative? Has anybody tried it?

the tree can be spawned from a sim if you have nightlife - it's the townie/NPC maker.

if you have OFB, it's pretty much the only way to generate townies, apart from creating them all in CAS yourself

You don't need to download this if you are comfortable using boolprop to access it as it is essentially the item that you spawn by typing boolprop testingcheatsenabled true and then clicking on the mailbox a couple of times.  

It doesn't work properly for OFB so you may have to create NPCs & townies individually.

You could instead create individual sims, plonk them on a lot and use Inge's teleporter shrub to make them NPC/townies (updated by Jordi & Torkle) http://www.moreawesomethanyou.net/smf/index.php?topic=2757.0

I forgot about using boolprop with the mailbox, mostly just use it for the tombstone of L&D.Thx

I didn't know that. In what way is it fubared. Don't tell me I've generated a BFBVFS in a hood where I'm finally nearly up to gen3.

I believe it just means that it doesn't work as it used to, before OFB.  I don't think it causes a BFBVFS.

It works fine only in a non pre-made maxis hood, and if you only have a base hood - no subhoods attached.

Well I tested it today on a couple of new non-premade hoods, with no subhoods attached, and it didn't really work - I kept getting an error message after anywhere from 2 to 19 townies were generated (usually after about 6 townies were generated).

I didn't know that it was fubared! I've been using it like mad and haven't had any problems. Hmmm...I also noticed while trying to hire new workers that the townies in my neighborhood are now very attractive. I'm going to create a new neighborhood and try again.

Is it normal for townies generated this way to have no interests?  I did the deleteallcharacters cheat on a new neighborhood with Uni and NL installed, generated new NPCs, townies, downtownies, and students, then installed OFB.  My first family in the neighborhood was having a really hard time making friends, and I just checked Sim PE and saw that all the new sims I generated have no interests except for the NPCs.
