Question for the portal experts

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Over at MTS2, they have a dirt road replacement for the neighborhood (for medieval villages, etc). Someone made mention: too bad we can't get rid of the sidewalk. Why couldn't we just place a dirt tile over (or replace) the sidewalk? I'm assuming it has something to do with the portals? Someone else in the thread mentioned using dirt tiles to cover the road in the lot. If using dirt tiles on the sidewalk would mess up portals, wouldn't using dirt tiles on the road do the same thing to the car portals?

What happens if you remove the sidewalk tiles? Can you remove all the tiles except the one that the portal is on?

I've removed sidewalk tiles without any problems, but not on lots I've played much.

I don't normally remove them, but you can just place tiles on top, then there's no danger of accidentally deleting anything.

I've never completely removed the sidewalks either, but perhaps you could either try it in a test neighbourhood to see if it works, or place sidewalk tiles are are coloured like dirt at the ends of the lot, and just a dirt path connecting the two?

Or you could use cobblestones - there are several good cobblestone floors around which would look medieval enough, I should think.
