Unkown file

Ok, downloaded shared hood, but because I only have the standard 3 up and running, I'm moving the shared to 4.  Thus I have to rename all files.  Good thing I have Oscar's renamer.  Otherwise this would be too painful.  Anyway, I'm changing hood numbers in the character files and I came across one that says:  N009_user00104.bak.  What is a bak file and can I get rid of it.  The file number after it is the same except it's a package file with the same name.  Did I do something wrong???

A .bak file is created with SimPE, and if the other file with the .package extension is showing properly, it's safe to delete the .bak file.  I am going through this with the hair recategorization right now, and it's been working fine to delete them.
