Problems with my game? Help needed!
« on: 2005 December 28, 06:03:23 »
THANKS THIS IS GREAT

Okay, so I have a Dell Dimension 2400, with a new upgrade of 1 gig of RAM. I run Windows XP home edition, and have all expansions, with custom content. I recently got a new video card, and it works wonderfully, on my PC. My game was working fine, even when I ran it last night. Now, after shutting down all background tasks, I popped in my game.

It loads, and I can hear it loading, I hear the music.

See, the window for it, is depressed in, so, I can see where it says 'The Sims 2: Nightlife'. So, when I go to click that, what happens? It pulls up... and then goes back to my desk top. I'm running an ATI 256 mb, Raedon 9250. I want to play my game, 'cause... well, it's my stress reliever, and I've got a lot of crap going on in my life (friends, significant other, others still caring for me... long, long story), and my new video card not working, is pissing me off. (Pardon my language). So... if anyone has suggestions, it would be appreciated.

... Should mention, I got the video card installed today, and my game was working last night.

Save the Downloads, Packaged lots, Saved sims, Neighbourhood (in which you played) folders, and re-install. If you have collections downloaded, save the Collection folder too.

Perhaps, before that, try to reboot the computer, and enter the game. May be the game has to be linked to the new video card. Then, if it doesn't work - reinstall.

I have rebooted... I'm thinking a reinstall might do some good, too.

I do <3 my new video card, and I've got a few days off, so... reinstall shouldn't be a problem.

Which driver do you have installed for the card?  Search the threads here. Several people have mentioned that older drivers sometimes work better than the most recent ones. I'd give more details, but I'm not that technical and don't want to steer you wrong.

At least 3.5 GB of hard drive space
If you have a non-T&L capable video card (an Intel Extreme Graphics or a Radeon 7000/VE Series) then you need at least:

I'd have to ask Dad, seeing as he did the install... I work ten hour shifts, so... much <3333 to him.

He's asleep. Where I should be... but... grr.

Meh... ignore me, really. ^^;
