New Save/World - Can't Move Around After Loading A Family

THANKS THIS IS GREAT

When I start a new world and load a family, the game doesn't allow me to move or anything. It doesn't even zoom in to allow me to see my sims. The water moves and I can see birds fly in the sky but other than that, the game is basically frozen. Is this a bug or something? This doesn't happen when I play an existing saved game.

Is the family custom content or an in-game creation?  Same question for the world; cc or original content? Did you use custom content in the creation of your fambly?  Did you try CustardCleaner/Deccrappification, etc?

The family and the world were both EA created. It's really strange because I did a fresh install just to be sure and created a new family. After that, I loaded up other worlds to test families and it all seemed to be running smoothly. Then after a couple days of playing I decided to go back to check out the other worlds again and the issue came back.

When I load my current save game, it runs fine, there's no issues moving in new families or anything. I'll also add that I recently upgraded to Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.

Maybe your save became corrupted in some way. Did you try the handy-dandy 'fixall' command? Also, did you check your 'Saves' folder for a .bad extension? If I remember correctly, you can delete the bad file, remove the .backup extension, and play that version.

If you are using Windows 8, maybe try running Sims in XP Compatibility Mode?

Is this happening only in one specific world?
