Sex change?

One of my sims rolled up a "Sex change" want (no, not in game, but in my randomstuff). Any established/easy/simple way to do it? Will changing the flag in SimPE from male to female do it?

I actually did this last week with one of my toddler sims. I had a huge gender imbalance in my current hood. Usually I'm happy to go with whatever the game gives me but I'd gotten fed up.

I changed things in three places in SimPE to do it. First I changed the "treat as male/female" box, then changed the gender in the property set records (in the character file), and then changed the gender in DataAge.

The gender reassignment worked fine as far as I can tell. I aged the kid via the sim modder to check for any pending weirdness I may encounter, but none was apparent.

Last time I did this, and it was a while ago, it was annoying finding the right instructions to do the job.  A lot of the search results were only partial answers or did not go into enough detail.  Has this been added to something like SimPE yet to make it easier?

I too had to trawl through various forums and follow a few different sets of instructions before I got it to work.
