You can still get dust in a laser mouse.

Laser mice are also very sensitive to movement. Are you sure your not just shivering with the cold weather? Cheesy

However, the wonkiness and the mis-clicks can be caused by your mouse driver. Does this happen only this mouse?

A random little hair over the laser will often cause the mouse to slip and slide quite a bit.

That happens with my mouse. When it does, I just blow on the laser 'eye' to remove the hair, and it's all good. Perhaps you should try this.

Now I did have a optical mouse that went all fubar on me. I cleaned it twice and the pointer would jerk all crazily across the screen. Even when I wasn't moving it. I had to buy a new mouse to replace it.

Personally I have a terrible time with mouse mats causing different reflections as I move my optic mouse across it. I've found that unless the entire pad it a completely uniform texture and colour then there can be jumping caused if I move the mouse quickly. Also if like me you use the mouse a lot it is a good idea to dismantle the mouse totally and clean up inside now and then, hairs inside can really mess up all the buttons.
